Yesterday, I called on Christian politicians who had opposed, on the grounds of sensitivity, the Islamic community center in Lower Manhattan to denounce the insensitivity of the pastor provocateur Terry Jones, who is planning to burn Qurans at his Gainesville, Florida, church on September 11. I also called out Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich by name.
Today, Sarah Palin, at least, weighed in.
On Twitter, she wrote, Koran Burning Is Insensitive, Unnecessary; Pastor Jones, Please Stand Down.
On Facebook, she spelled out her position in more detail:
Book burning is antithetical to American ideals. People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation

Trying to remember what Reagan said about Salman Rushdie.
Maybe un-American if the government is doing it, but it is free speech and very American if a private individual does it. Palin is wrong on this one.
No, no little Missy.
Don’t got there.
Hey! This could be a new tactic. I’m going to call the news for a press conference. If I do not get agreement that the stoning of the Iranian woman will not occur, AND that the American Spies caught in Iran will be returned, I shall wipe my ass daily with one page of the Qur’an at a time. Daily press releases following each dump/wipe will be issued until my demands are met!
I like your thinking!
By the way, we’re getting over the “being sensitive” stuff.
Didn’t work.
Normally I would agree with Palin, but Islam has been asking for this kind of response for over ten years. People can only take so much of the BS forced on us. Islam does not fit in the United States and doesn’t belong here.
Considering Rushdie is a British citizen and was a London resident when Satanic Verses was published, why is that on point?
Did he say anything? Satanic Versus weren't written until late '87 or '88, and I don't believe the fatwa (sp?) was issued by the Supreme Leader until sometime after Reagan left office.
Maybe he said something, but it probably wasn't as President.
Versus - Verses.
Actually Palin posted to Facebook yesterday afternoon.
“Daily press releases following each dump/wipe will be issued until my demands are met!”
The aforementioned soiled page could actually BE your press release.
Now there’s some PR.
I don’t like what the guy is doing either.
But I swear the Obamists are doing everything they can to make me sympathize with him, sending in the FBI to harrass him, and getting his website shut down.
If he has freedom of speech to say what he says, his critics have the same freedom to criticize him. Thats fair. But attacking his right to say it is beyond the pale in my view.
Something like a dozen aid workers were killed in Afghanistan, what, a week ago? because they were Christians. The Obamists didn’t have anything to say about it, which leaves them very little room to speak now. They’re all for the Victory Mosque which, again, leaves them no room to speak now.
Methinks Sarah should keep her mouth shut on this one.
I’ll wait until that mosque gets built (it will) and then burns down (it will).
And I’ll cheer and throw a party.
To all the libs to whom this offends, shove it up your smelly Obamahole.
What about burning Al Gore’s book?
I say, if he owns it and wants to burn it, no biggie
"Book burning is antithetical to American ideals. People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation much like building a mosque at Ground Zero.
I would hope that Pastor Terry Jones and his supporters will consider the ramifications of their planned book-burning event. It will feed the fire of caustic rhetoric and appear as nothing more than mean-spirited religious intolerance. Dont feed that fire."
She isn't worried about the violence of it - she is not taking a fearful stance. I happen to agree with her...especially as she works in a shot at the mosque ...
I couldn’t care less how many pastors want to burn korans. I do care how many islamists are still alive that have an itching to behead Christians. They need to be dead.
So, he called out Sarah and Newt by name! Who is this guy?

Washington DC - The Saudi government burns and desecrates hundreds of bibles its security forces confiscate after raids on Christian expatriates worshiping privately or at border crossings.
As a matter of official policy, the government either incinerates or dumps bibles, crosses and other Christian paraphernalia.
Hundreds of Christian worshipers are arrested every year by Saudi police in raids on their private gatherings. Bibles, crosses and printed materials are confiscated and later burnt or dumped into trash. Bibles and other Christian paraphernalia found with travelers into the country are confiscated and destroyed.
Although considered as holy in Islam and mentioned in the Koran dozens of times, the Bible is banned in Saudi Arabia, and is confiscated and destroyed by government officials.
...The American State Department had no comment on this issue.
Not sure shich is more full of fairy tales. The koran or Algore’s book.
