ATLANTA -- Three people were being treated at an Atlanta hospital Sunday after a robbery attempt turned into a fatal shootout.
The would-be robber pulled out a gun and approached three people in a car at the Forest Cove Apartments on Saturday night, police said.
A man inside the vehicle then pulled his own gun and the two exchanged gunfire, police said.
Officers wouldnt say how many shots were fired, but everyone involved was hit. The robber collapsed after one shot and two women inside the vehicle were shot in the back, police said.
Channel 2's Rebecca Lindstrom went to Atlanta Medical Center, where the three victims inside the car were being treated for gunshot wounds. The man who pulled out the gun in self-defense was treated for a leg injury, hospital officials said.
The robber died at Grady Memorial Hospital, authorities said.
I’m all for shooting the bad guys but if you and your friends also get shot, it’s no bargain that you got to keep the car.
But the victims could have been dead instead of wounded.
I ain't happy about the innocents getting hit, but you gotta love the ending
Without the 2nd Amendment it would have been the 2 women and the 1 guy dead and the perp laughing on his way back to his cockroach hole.
It isn't part of the OP. but it amazes me that libtards don't believe in protecting themselves. Or their families.
Don't you mean alleged robber? After all, we can't rush to judgement.
Carjackings are not like purse snatches. They are violent, and it’s unlikely he would have given the two in the back time to escape.
What makes you think the robber wouldn't have shot them anyway?
It looks to me like the alleged robber is now an alleged corpse, which means he is rushing to Judgment. For his sake, I sure hope his friends and mother are right tomorrow when they say "he was a good boy" and "he was just turning his life around".
I agree. He should have planned his move to put the women out of the line of fire.
Don’t you know robbers never shoot people even if they are cooperating? You must trust the robbers, they are honorable people.

Good shooting, Citizen. Civilization thanks you.
Wouldn’t carjacking now be slightly more problematic for this guy.. being in a wooden box 6 ft under ?
It’s clear, owning a gun should be a personal decision, period. Like in Vermont, buy it put it in your pocket etc. A form to verify if you are not prohibited should be the only exception. The sooner everyone can assume that everyone else is armed, the better.
How do you know that the robber/assailant/car thief
would not have kidnapped, robbed, or murdered any of
the occupants of the car? It does happen you know.
