Mass extinctions have served as huge reset buttons that dramatically changed the diversity of species found in oceans all over the world, according to a comprehensive study of fossil records. The findings suggest humans will live in a very different future if they drive animals to extinction, because the loss of each species can alter entire ecosystems.

Some scientists have speculated that effects of humans - from hunting to climate change - are fueling another great mass extinction. A few go so far as to say we are entering a new geologic epoch, leaving the 10,000-year-old Holocene Epoch behind and entering the Anthropocene Epoch, marked by major changes to global temperatures and ocean chemistry, increased sediment erosion, and changes in biology that range from altered flowering times to shifts in migration patterns of birds and mammals and potential die-offs of tiny organisms that support the entire marine food chain

Yep. There is a ocming extinction level event regarding the destruction of habitat for the Egregious grantsucker, a species known to feed at the public trough while managing to mimic the actions of the useful scientist.

Not worried about any disasters that “scientists” warn us about since they've been lying about global warming for the past two decades.

It will take years to build up trust in any scientist after the crazy speculations they have been paid to tell us.

It's got to be frustrating to real scientists.

When these people start putting their money where their mouths are, and off themselves, then I might take them more seriously.

We agree on that. It's a real conversation stopper when you tell it to their faces. When they come up with a lame excuse for why they don't want to sacrifice themselves on the green altar, I usually add something along the lines of "you're a typical liberal, wanting to benefit from the sacrifice of others, but unwilling to sacrifice yourself."

"Some scientists . . ." Blah, blah, blah, and that means it's fact. We're all doomed. I guess these are the same lame intellects who have put forward the AGW scam then suppressed any dissenting opinions.

These Chicken Little scientists make their living off of the gloom and doom industry. Some clown comes up with a new "more accurate" way of counting animal life and suddenly we're all doomed. Yeah, well what if you ESTIMATES and you technique are flawed? Oh, that never occurred to you, eh?

The arrogance of these ivory towered elites is pathetic. The "Scientific Method" that drove all science for the past couple of centuries is dead. Now it's come up with a theory and carefully cull the data to prove your wonderfulness. Isaac Newton and most of the scientist of the past must be rolling in their graves at this modern pseudo-science.

These guys have made their careers cherry-picking data and conspiring to keep themselves on the gravy train at the expense of the tax-payer and truth.

Really pathetic. The sad thing is that the education system has so dumbed down the people that they are incapable of discerning fact from mere conjecture and snake oil advertising from serious science.
