WWL-TV in New Orleans has confirmed the Coast Guard is responding to a rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico.
Dozens are reported injured.
According to the Coast Guard, it happened 80 miles south of Grand Isle.
Rescue choppers from New Orleans and Houston are responding.
The injured will be taken to hospitals in various coastal areas from Houston to the Louisiana/Mississippi border area.
I am looking at the map right now. Vermillion South Block 380 and 398 are adjacent to one another. Dynamic, Forest, and McMoran also have active platforms in the area. Water depth is between 340 and 380’.
Ramadan fasting can do that to you.
What do you mean when you say “our” rigs? As far as I know, the rigs are all private property, and not government-owned.
Indeed
OK. I read an article wrong...
MY BAD! I thought oil spilt.
OIL DID NOT SPILL
GOOD!!!
Obama will still use this to cram in his energy bill.
“I think you have a valid point but...oil was supposedly spilt and lots of it...”
If it was not producing, that would be drilling mud and diesel.
A mess, but not a big deal.
ok, was there any significance in Islam to hitting 3 or 4 bldgs / targets ? ie 9/11
2 towers 2 rigs
“Looks very suspicious.”
Only if you’ve never been near a rig floor.
Thanks. See post #225 I read an article wrong.
No oil was spilt today!
Natural law follows
Is it common yes...
Will Obama use it for his agenda yes...
“Oh my Lord, THANK YOU for being a voice of reason. It shocks me daily, how little the public knows about what our industry does and how we do it.”
Anytime, mam. I own 22 rigs (ON shore). The human ability to F-things up royally without conspiracy continues to amaze me.

Oh brother...lay off of the pipe and the tin foil. Really?!
Its OK, DHS will be all over it /s
A quick google says E. Cameron was a production platform, so it would not have been a ‘blow out’. Sounds like this one today was a production platform as well. Did they ever find out what caused the E. Cameron 2 fire? I don’t know of any production blow outs and oil leaks in the gulf other than the BP one this past spring. If you know of one, please provide the link for the record. I think it’s important to understand the true facts.
don’t do either thank you very much
The rig -- Vermilion Oil Rig 380 -- is an oil and gas production rig located in 340 feet of water in South Timbalier Block 316, according to company records. The well was not producing any "product" at the time of the accident, Colclough said.
No one is doubting what you or her are saying...
The 64 trillionth dollar question is...will Obama use this to pass his agenda politically?
I have an idea...get lost.
