How to leave comments to EPA about possible ban of Lead Bullets (FREEP the USEPA!)
US EPA ^

Posted on 08/27/2010 11:43:54 AM PDT by JohnKinAK

Here's the link to the EPA documents and online means of leaving a pulic comment.

http://www.regulations.gov/search/Regs/home.html#docketDetail?R=EPA-HQ-OPPT-2010-0681

and click on "Comment Due"

Here's the comment I left:

If you COMMIE APPARATCHIKS are hell bent on banning lead bullets, then be aware that many of the 100+ million gun owners in this country will be more than happy to come to DC to personnally deposit their lead bullets.

I am 100% for gun rights, so don’t flame me, but I am wondering why it would necessarily be a bad thing to make bullets out of something other than lead. How would that harm us?

And mine: "This is the stupidist thing I have heard of since declaring CO2 a toxic gas. Lead in the form of bullets or lead sinkers has very low bio-availability and is not toxic to animal life in the field. A new Congress is going to kick your ass to the curb where it belongs."

Thanks for the link.

If you did send that you just made it on a watch list somewhere, perhaps even a visit by someone with a few questions for you.

Why do you think we use lead? Because it is the best metal for the job. No other metal has the weight, the affordability, the properties of lead. Lead wasn’t chosen by accident! More importantly, it is none of the fuc*ing business of the nazi epa what I shoot in my self protection device. Liberals keep pushing the law abiding, we will not stay that way.

Lead is abundant, cheap and its properties are well understood for use as projectiles. All modern firearms are designed with the use of lead ammo as the starting premise. Other materials are more costly, occur in limited amounts, may damage barrels and have different ballistic properties. There is no good reason to ban lead ammo except as a backdoor means of making current firearms unusable or too expensive to use. That is the precise purpose. Metallic lead in bullets isn't a hazard to anyone...except those in the line of fire.

What their really trying to do is prevent you and I from reloading our own rounds at home. I can melt and form lead into my own bullet casting - not so much any other metal.

Duuhhh! The harm is allowing another bureaucrap to dictate in matters that they have no legitimate authority to meddle in .

This is aimed at disarming the U.S. citizens and is proposed to do so without a legislative vote. More compulsion from an out of control government an EPA.

Pouring lead bullets is a very old process. And it can be done in anyone’s home. Other types of bullets are not as easily fabricated.

Outlaw lead bullets?

NO WAY!

NO WAY!

Hey. The "lead ban" issue really IS "all about hunting and fishing". It would serve the "bolt-action rifle" crowd who think it is "just fine" to ban "assault weapons" if the self-defense crowd came out and said that it was "just fine" to ban lead from hunting and fishing, but keep it for self defense. But we self-defense types won't do that, because we know that it's all about eventually banning ALL firearms, even those powered by "things other than fire" (AKA "powerful airguns").

100% does not need a qualifier. Laura Ingraham would call you a "but-monkey."

You're kidding about being on list, right??? Trust me, if you've ever filled out a 4473, you're on ‘The List’. You think commenting is going to make the difference about a list? This is about our freedom. We have to do what we can to stop this rogue gov’t agency from doing something they'll regret!

Crossbows are just as powerful as many rifles, they make a BIGGER HOLE and they DON’T MAKE A SOUND when fired!

1. The only way a lead bullet or copper-jacketed lead bullet is going to harm you is if it hits you at high speed or if you break a tooth biting a shot pellet in game meat. The toxicity of solid, non-vaporous, non-dust lead is negligible. Lead does not leech evil into the water table and it does not poison animals that manage to eat it. Yes, lead dust and vapor IS detrimental to human health, but those states of matter are not a concern in the great outdoors.

2. Alternate metals are far more expensive and someshat less effective due to their relative lack of density. Why should we not consider it harmful to be forced to buy a less effective product at a more expensive prive based on a dishonest contrivance from unelected bureaucrats at the EPA?

3. This move is an end run attack against the 2nd Ammendment. Lead musket balls, bullets, and shot are and have always been an integral and inseperable part of "the right to bear arms" from the time when our forefathers cast balls over a campfire to Winchester and Remington cranking out rounds by the billions. Only the twisted mind of a lib lawyer bureaucrat could conceive of a world where they are not.

Another “plan” that only affects those of us who choose to follow the laws. I’m sure Black Market lead shot will be available to your local drug cartel.

Your argument is accepting their premise and justification.

Don’t do that. Attack the premise that this is about saving the environment. It is not, and everyone knows it.
Too often we just accept the left’s surface justification, ie, excuse, for furthering their agenda.

See Proverbs 26:4-5
