RCMP dismantle alleged terror cell in Ottawa (linked to al Qaeda) (Aug. 25/10)
The National Post ^ | Aug. 25, 2010. | Stewart Bell

OTTAWA — The RCMP dismantled an alleged Ottawa terrorist cell with suspected links to al-Qaeda on Wednesday morning, making two arrests in the nation’s capital without incident.

The men are suspected of preparing a terrorist attack targeting Canada. The ringleader allegedly attended training camps in the Pakistan and Afghanistan region.

But the bomb plot was described as not well defined and the arrests were apparently made on Wednesday because one of the suspects was preparing to travel abroad.

A news conference has been scheduled for Thursday afternoon. The RCMP, Ottawa Police Service and Canadian Security Intelligence Service were involved in the operation.

Sparky,

If you took the time to read the thread; you would see that this terrorism is based in Canada and at this time; has nothing to do with America.

The question is inquiring minds want to know is where were those 50 IEDs going to be placed?

You’re welcome.
Thanks for all the updates on the thread.

Was the Moon-walker the one that was arrested in London, Ont. today?

SNIPPET from post no. 58:

“Over the course of the past 36 hours the RCMP “A” Division Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (AINSET) arrested two Ottawa residents, named Hiva Mohammad Alizadeh and Misbahuddin Ahmed, and arrested a London Ontario resident named Khurram Syed Sher in relation to terrorist offences.”

They could have been going after any number of targets. The U.S. Embassy and all others are in Ottawa.

YES! You have it right. There are no moderate mohammedens they are either members of the sunni or shiite sect of this cult and they hate each other. If you hear a mohammeden being called a moderate he/she is actually just against what the other is doing or saying. They both are striving for the same thing - Caliphate of the world!

"The spy agency recently revealed it is tracking more than 200 individuals in Canada with possible links to as many as 50 terrorist groups."

That little statement by CSIS (the Canadian CIA) doesn't exactly make me feel all warm and fuzzy, does it you? For every person they know about, there are probably another 100 wackos out in the weeds. CBC's "Little Mosque on the Prairie", what a cruel joke on the Canadian public.

The reports I've 'heard' included malls, buses, and Parliament Hill. They were working on 50 IEDs.

Thanks Cindy.

I read more about this terrorist today. Apparently he was a big joker/funny man, a great co-worker, and a really nice/good neighbour.

Hmmm.
I wonder how they describe a moderate Muslim?

It seems a lot (not all) of crazies are described much that same way by neighbors. I think we're talking a human condition here.

I've known Muslims here in the U.S. since about 1980 (all Iranian) and not a one of them has ever blown anyone up. A few have even passed on without doing so. A few have become Christians but maybe that's just cover, right?

It's my belief that many, if not the majority, of Muslims are in fact moderates. (And there are many who are the equivalent of C&E Christians.) The problem is that one can never be absolutely certain which is which.

Just like one can never be certain that the "really nice/good neighbour" isn't an axe murderer, real or potential, on her off days.

OTOH, I have a Muslim colleague who frequently regales his Western colleagues about the "Evil Juice" -- to the point that a German colleague with no love for Israel took him to task a while back.

I think we're talking a human condition here.

IIRC, the crazies are usually described as quiet, kept to himself kind of people, although there are always exceptions.

I have not yet met an Iranian (Persian) person I didn't like, but I have also read enough of the Koran to be afraid of muslims/islamic people/followers of the Koran.

Any so called religion that encourages it's people to kill anyone that doesn't agree with it, is not a religion in my books, and it doesn't deserve my respect.

It’s like the general criminal — some of them really are nice and/or just your “regular Joe” on the outside at least.

“Two terror suspects worshipped at Montreal mosque”
By BRIAN DALY, QMI AGENCY
Last Updated: August 27, 2010 4:09pm

SNIPPET: “MONTREAL — Terror suspects Misbahuddin Ahmed and Khurram Sher were arrested in Ottawa and London, Ont., this week in an alleged plot to bomb Canadian targets, but their origins can be traced to the Montreal area where they worshipped together and worked in the health-care field.

Both attended the same south shore mosque in Brossard, south of Montreal. They worked at Montreal hospitals, Sher as a pathologist and Ahmed as an x-ray technician. They even played on the same Muslim ball-hockey team.”
