Hate to defend Obama, but this is not a bad approach. Making an example of the employers who hire illegals is much more effective that arresting individual illegals (and letting the employers off the hook).

If illegals are not deported, they just move on to another job with new phoney papers. The “new “ approach is just a new tax on business ,without offending Mexicans too much.

What if the companies raided are those that do not pay the illegals what Obama deems a fair wage or they are companies that Obama considers enemies of his agenda?

What makes more sense here considering the handling of this specific issue along with all others -that Obama is strong on the agenda of the people -stemming and reversing the tide of illegal aliens OR that Obama selectively enforces that which promotes his own agenda -"amnesty"?

I totally agree. STOP THE INCENTIVE - STOP THE MIGRATION!

I've been saying the same for years, long before others were even watching. I was a member of FAIR back in the early 90's when they were espousing penalties against employers at that time.

Still, I want the double fence built, as we were promised by Congress. They not only reneged on that promise, but defunded much of the fence they had previously funded. That includes the Bush administration and more so the Obambi socialists.

The above is why the obambi socialists want to kill the e-verify program that has worked very well with those companies/states who used it. IT SHOULD BE MANDATORY! It's well within the Constitutional authority of the Fedgov to enforce.

Of all the abuses of the "commerce clause", this would definitely be within the jurisdiction of the Fedgov. Those companies who don't use it should be fined into bankruptcy. Think of all the jobs open to US citizens if the above were to occur, even during this continuing recession.

I am thinking some of these arrests are lower because many have moved to other states and or not staying in one place very long. I am sure amongst the illegals they are kept informed as to the duration of their employment and when the authorities could actually crack down.

It is the way to go. Fines and jail time are what it will take. Just fines will be factored in as a business expense unless people are held accountable.

The other place to hit it would be schools. If the schools can check the immunization records of all students, they could easily as a parallel process check if that child is a US citizen.

All this equates to in a stealth "tax" on businesses.

Their are stiff "fines" for opting out of ObamaCare. The rich liberals will simply pay the "fine."

Do you think Babs Streisand is signing up for ObamaCare?

Nope. Pay the fine, do what they want.

The illegals will just move on to the next job, until their employer gets "fined."

Perhaps, but it will never be implemented beyond "token enforcement".

I live in Arizona and can tell you that the Feds are worthless as far as any immigration enforcement. They'd rather focus on financially crippling our state over laws that are based directly on their books rather than find an actual solution.

It's past time to part ways with them.

The way I heard it, the illegals were arrested and then released. They had the employers and the illegals but let them go.

You're exactly right.

Oh, it's not being done enough, I think we can all agree upon that, but it's much more efficient to make employers realize the law is being enforced. The jobs dry up, the illegals go home, and that’ll take care of a large (although not all) part of the problem.

I don’t think the government cares about illegals as long as they get their payroll taxes. The audits are just a way to raise funds through fines, etc...

Why not do both?
