Forty-seven years after Martin Luther King, Jr., gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, a different type of rally will be convening there. And it is already causing national uproar.
The controversial Fox News host's comments against some churches provokes anger.Conservative commentator Glenn Beck's plans to host a "Restoring Honor" rally on Aug. 28 to "celebrate America" has brought objections from some civil rights leaders, who say picking the anniversary of King's speech is a deliberate way to distort King's message.
Rev. Al Sharpton, president of the National Action Network -- which is also planning a large march that day that ends in the same spot -- has called Beck's event an "outright attempt to flip the imagery of Dr. King." Sharpton said Beck is "circumventing him and distorting him."
Beck, for his part, claims ignorance, saying that he initially planned the rally for Sept. 12, but then realized it was Sunday and didn't want anyone to work on the sabbath. The controversial talk show host attributed the coincidence to "divine providence."
snip/ The New Black Panther Party's Malik Zulu Shabazz has warned that Beck's group will be met with "direct opposition" from his group.

Interesting since Smerconish used to fill in for Beck on his HLN/CNN show... we actually hated when he filled in for Beck.
I bought my flip video cam today and am charged up and ready for 8/28!
Can’t wait, going with my husband and best friends!
I too have respect for Glenn Beck, and I will be there on the 28th. I will stand by Mr. Beck and anyone else who opposes the path down which Obama and his cronies are taking us.
Dear Freepers, will you be there on Aug. 28?
That sounds like a threat from the Black KKK to me. I wonder what his "brother" Holder is going to do about it.
Listen, I WANT to judge every man on the basis of his character. If a man loves his wife, cares tenderly for his kids, works hard in his job, keeps up his house, and is NOT trying to subvert my American freedoms by using them against me to impose twisted Islamic law upon my nation, then I don't care if he is brown, black, red, blue, or Vulcan, Mr. Jackson. I want that man living next to me! The problem is that whenever I do as Dr. King suggested, Mr. Sharpton, and judge a man on his character, his actions; when I say that a certain man is a vicious racist (like the President's pastor), or a drug dealer, or violent, or hateful, or anti-American, or when I disapprove of his music that calls women whores, or that glorifies violence, or that blatently, clearly, and stupidly uses words that I have been taught I must never say, then that perfectly reasonable judgment of a man's character causes equally confused knee-jerk liberals to call me a racist. This is because the name caller in this case, usually "community leaders", knows that there is more money in blaming The Man than there is in actually rebuking the "community member" who has failed, failed, failed in their character.
In short, sir, I am more in the pure, clean truth of Dr. King's message and memory than you will ever be, for while I can separate a man's skin color from his actions, you "community organizers" cannot. And there will NEVER be the color-blind society that I hope and pray for every day, while you are DEFENDING black under-achievers on the basis of their skin color, and bad-mouthing the real hero, the black businesspeople, doctors, lawyers and statesmen who have taken no guff, made no excuse, and gone out and worked their way into success as being somehow "too white" because they choose to excel within America's freedoms, and not waste their lives making excuses about their lack of character and blaming it on others.
As a Republican, I believe that any black person can work hard, study hard, and using the freedoms we still have in America, make themselves rich beyond their dreams by achieving greatness the same way people of any other skin color have. But too many insist on listening to Democrats who tell them, "you poor little things, you can't possibly make it in the big bad world unless we lower the bar for you to achieve, and expect less of you, and unless you keep us in power to keep those EEEEEEEVIL REPUBLICANS beaten down." I believe you can achieve greatness, the Democrats don't, and somehow I am the bad guy.
Mr. Wright, Mr. Jackson, Mr. Sharpton, Mr. Obama, you have done more to hold back a brave and intelligent people by "playing" them for your own careers than the Klan ever did by treating them like animals. If you had the capacity, you would be ashamed of yourselves, but I guess that doesn't put money in your pockets, so it will never occur.
I have a dream!
In this media age of the vidcam and the cell phone, I have a dream. It is the dream that thousands of Tea Partiers will show up, and on their vidcams, on their cell phones, be beaten and attacked. And like, so like, the Freedom Riders of the last century, they will be captured in amber, caught by the light of the lens, and be ALL OVER YOUTUBE IN TWENTY MINUTES. So that the evil that is pure racism will never again be able to skulk in the shadows, so that these evil men will be exposed for the haters they are, and that not even the CORRUPT, TWISTED, LYING SO-CALLED "Justice Department" will be able to hide their perfidy. Mr. President, we are going to be beaten for NOTHING and see to it that like the civil rights activists (well, most of them) did those many years ago, you are shamed into changing your ways.
Post it. Post it again, and again, and again from a thousand angles.
“The New Black Panther Party’s Malik Zulu Shabazz has warned that Beck’s group will be met with “direct opposition” from his group.”
Seems like the boys who can’t hold their glocks straight want cameras on site to prove it.
Shabazz...what’s that...that when the buttonhole on the sewing machine runs out of thread?
SHABAZZZZZZZZ! We done run out of buttonholes. SHABAZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
Yea, I called you 'babe' - so what?
Wanna wrestle for the title? You win!
I'm too old for this shit - but I still love you.
We gotta get more drama in here ........................ FRegards
My son and I will be there to support Beck and the rally. Will be my first time at such an event. I am looking forward to it!
Dittos Gonzo, and a big BTTT !!!
It appears that those attending the rally will be enjoying a beautiful day...forecast calls for a sunny day in the mid-eighties...bring a hat and some water. :-)
Well now Smerconish fills in for Chrissy Matthews on Hardball, so that might tell ya something...
Plea for help! I told TW Cable to screw off and cancelled cable but am going through some withdrawal....shaking, chills, and alternating voices in my head.(It’s like a catfight between Keith Overboard and Sissy Matthews)
Is there ANYWHERE on the web that I can view Fox News Channel live?? Without having to pay of course :)
If anyone is kind enough to help, I will be forever grateful.
FRegards,
JD
