As an American who is Jewish by faith, Ive never been offended by crosses. Its actually to the contrary. This is a Christian country, and Im glad. As long as it remains so, Im pretty sure Ill be free to practice my religion. I view attacks on crosses and Christians in America as an attack on me and my Jewish religious observances.
Thats why it offends me when I read about court rulings like the one handed down by the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, this week, claiming that 14 crosses erected along Utah roads to commemorate fallen state Utah Highway Patrol trooper are unconstitutional.

Replace the crosses with a mosque - I am sure the judges will not have any problem then. Constitution for you but not for us. Excuse me, I gotta throw up.

That memorial looks like a “T” to me, probably stands for ‘trooper’.

And these judges were appointed by Presidents G.W. Bush and R. Reagan. A terrible injustice.

Food for thought on this discussion.
Consider Lafayette, California (east bay near Oakland). Here is the scene:
The people who put these crosses up were anti war activists, who falsely claimed they were "honoring the troops". I call that BS, they were sending an anti-Bush, Anti-War statement in a "in your face" manner (the hillside is next to a major freeway).
Is this a proper presentation? I do not like this display, but it is legal, as should be the case that you are referring to.
However, if we can use that case to remove the crosses in Lafayette, then we should do so.

But the Muzzies can put up a fu*king mosque whereever the hell they want to?
Someone needs to tell these judges to eat sh*t and die.

These are the cases that remind you that you can put a black robe on a shyster but he will still be a shyster. Private interests should erect these crosses just off the right-of-way and dare the shysters to come tear them down.

The time is coming when a state - or states - will flat-out refuse to accede to one of these unending obtuse, intrusive, capricious, and arbitrary rulings of Federal Judges, or Imperial Bureaucracies — and that will be the Fort Sumter for the modern age....

We’d better take back the government, and set it straight what is State, and what is Federal responsibility. I don’t care if it is a Federally funded highway. It’s still in the State of Utah, therefore it’s Utah’s business. If the people of Utah don’t want those crosses, it’s up to them and their State Legislators.
The Fed is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of line when it comes to what is there responsibility to administer. The Fed operates at the behest of the States, not the other way around.

I don’t know the answer to this question, so I’m going to throw it out there for those better informed in constitutional law: does the prohibition for freedom of religion apply to the federal government or also to states? Just curious.

we should be happy? They are winning, taking away our beliefs, our foundations and our free choice. Who the hell do they think they are? It is a perversion of the original intention by a group of self satisfied, smug, in it for life bureaucrats.

Easy there, we pride ourselves of being a country of laws. Perhaps we’re governed by a bunch of outlaws, who knows?

Our rulers have decided that crosses commemorating fallen troopers mean that everyone is required to attend the established church this weekend.
Guess they’ll have to stop using them in Arlington, too.
Our rulers in black robes are idiots and deserve to be overthrown.

I think most Freepers are aware of this. It’s the rest of the country we need to get this to.
Thanks for posting it.

Just put up so many crosses in the millions that it would be too expensive to take them down. Can somebody explain what it is with people in predominately Baptist states with putting up three crosses?
