ALASKA ELECTION UPSET IN THE WORKS
The Tea Party Express (website: www.TeaPartyExpress.org) is pleased to release details of a statewide survey it conducted in conjunction with RT Nielson research earlier this week that shows the Alaska U.S. Senate race dramatically tightening.
Over one week ago the Tea Party Express was made aware of a private poll conducted by a third-party group interested in a ballot measure on the August 24th election ballot which showed Sen. Lisa Murkowski's lead over Conservative Republican challenger, Joe Miller, had narrowed dramatically.
So the Tea Party Express decided to commission it's own poll with RT Nielson of 300 Alaska Republican & Undeclared/Non-Aligned voters. The polling results show that if the election were held today the results among Likely Voters would be as follows:
LISA MURKOWSKI: 46.91%
JOE MILLER: 35.39%
Joe Miller now leads Senator Murkowski in the city of Fairbanks and the MatSu Valley/Eagle River regions. Miller has also closed the gap in the Kenai Peninsula region and remarkably in Southeast Alaska - which is where Lisa Murkowski was born and has been a bastion of political strength for her. However, the Tea Party Express has made 5 campaign swings through this region and also spent considerable sums advertising on TV, cable, radio and in print in support of Joe Miller.
The recent RT Nielson poll was conducted earlier this week and with the momentum that Joe Miller has achieved, it is likely that the race is even closer than the 46.91%-35.39% margin. The Tea Party Express has spent heavily on TV, radio and print advertising this week, blanketing stations with ads running as frequently as twice-per-half-hour on some TV and radio stations.
To fully understand how dramatic the poll changes have been, consider this: On July 27th, the Tea Party Express received polling data from Dittman Research - the #1 polling outfit in Alaska - that it had commissioned on the race. At that time the breakdown of numbers among Likely Voters was as follows:
LISA MURKOWSKI: 61%
JOE MILLER: 24%
So in the past three weeks, this race has tightened by 25.48% with Senator Murkowski now below the critical 50% threshold.
And with a parental consent abortion issue on the ballot on Tuesday expect to see a surge in interest in the race among social conservatives who are angered by Senator Murkowski's support for taxpayer funded abortions.
"We told everyone that Election Day could be a shocker. While we have not yet taken the lead in this race, we believe that the next 4 days will afford us the opportunity to put Joe Miller over the top by the time the polls close on Tuesday," said Amy Kremer, Chairman of the Tea Party Express.
The Tea Party Express has spent over $400,000 in the race already, and that number is rising fast.
"I think we caught Senator Murkowski asleep at the switch, and her campaign team has been telling TV and radio stations they want to 'buy everything' and hounding stations with questions about what what our media buys have been. They probably should have started doing that a couple of weeks ago," said Kremer.

Things are looking good for Joe Miller, the Conservative fighting against the GOP liberal.

Looks like the undecides/don’t know/won’t vote, etc. has increased about three percent to 18% from 15% earlier. I guess the race really comes down to what that contingent decides to do.

Even if Murkowski squeeks through, this should put Joe Miller in good position to send the RAT into retirement who edged Ted Stevens two years ago thanks to well-timed bogus charges.

2 polls by 2 different firms. Methods can be greatly different. Need more data points before I believe a 25 percentage point swing.

Ping to the following appeal from Governor Palin from facebook on behalf of Joe Miller:
Alaska is so full of potential for great private sector jobs and responsible resource development for the future of the Last Frontier if only the federal government would stop its overreach and let Alaska thrive. We need a Senator who understands this and promises to stand up for Alaska and fight Washingtons liberal agenda. Well get that in Joe Miller!
Were pleased to learn that recent poll results show the Alaska senate race between Joe Miller, a decorated Desert Storm war veteran, former judge, and proven Commonsense Conservative, and incumbent Lisa Murkowski is getting very close. Joe Miller has surged in the polls and is gaining strong momentum, while Lisa Murkowski has taken a big downward loss.
Constitutional Conservatives and Independent voters in Alaska have discovered what the far-left Huffington Post concluded and boasted that Lisa Murkowski is a center-right Democrat. Our country does not need another Democrat in the Senate voting for the Obama agenda which is bankrupting us. Alaska deserves a senator who will not talk one way in the Last Frontier and then vote the opposite way in the Beltway. Its time for Alaskans who are concerned about endless bailouts, ever increasing debt and deficits, and the government take-over of health care (all planks Lisa Murkowski has walked) to get behind Joe Miller.
Alaskans are learning more about Joe. Heres what we know: We know that Joe will not vote for amnesty for those who break our laws, but we know Lisa has already voted for amnesty on May 25, 2006 on S. 2611, and voted against funding for the border fence. As Joe says: It is a simple question. Are we a nation of laws? I believe we are. Therefore, the President must enforce our immigration laws as written and secure our borders, not sue the state of Arizona for acting where the federal government has failed to do so.
We know Joe wont support more bailouts, but we know Lisa already has. We know that Joe wont vote for job-killing cap-and-tax legislation, but we know Lisa will because she co-sponsored a cap-and-trade bill and boasted of her commitment to the issue of climate change and carbon taxes.
We know Joe will vote to repeal Obamacare, but we know Lisa wont because she said that repealing this government control of health care is not the answer.
And this is very important: we know that Joe can be counted on to vote with Commonsense Conservatives in the Senate, but we cant count on Lisa because she has voted with Democrats over 300 times and Human Events rated her one of the top five Senate RINOs.
Joe may be the underdog in this fight (because by using the power of a politicians incumbency after being given her Senate seat by her father, Lisa Murkowski has outspent Joe six to one), but Alaskans see through this and are recognizing Joes ability to be a real leader. Lisa Murkowski is endorsed by special interests and unions. Joe Miller is a man of the people, endorsed by the people. But as Alaska comes into its own, its important to remember that this election is not just about Alaska; its about our whole country. Remember, when it comes to the Senate, Alaska is just as important as California or New York. One vote is one vote. Our Alaska election affects the entire nation. Thats why good conservative leaders and organizations from around the country are looking at this race and have stepped up to endorse Joe including Governor Mike Huckabee, Mark Levin, Lars Larson, Laura Ingraham, Red State, and the Tea Party Express.
Joes campaign needs to raise about $30,000 for a crucial final media buy. We can do it if we all pull together. Please go to Joes website at http://joemiller.us/ and donate to his campaign. Lets raise $1,000 for each of the 30 years this senate seat has been locked in by the Murkowski family. The only way for our state to reach its potential, and to save our country, is to elect reformers who will fight for Alaska and all America and will stand up against the liberal Washington agenda.

The Joe Miller surge which I detected two weeks ago based on the facebook trends is now confirmed by a recent poll!

The Washington Post and the liberal Alaska Democrat Palin bashers have weighed in on behalf of Murkowski. She is THEIR candidate. Read my critique of the WAPO article below and ask yourself if Joe Miller (and Governor Palin) deserves our support at this critical time.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2562416/posts
WaPo understands the significance of this race. Sarah Palin is taking a big political risk here plus it represents a direct confrontation of the ruling class by the country class. Lisa Murkowski is now an established Beltway GOP leader.
I think Miller can do it. The reason I think he will beat her is the simple answer to a simple question: If Sarah Palin was the candidate against Lisa Murkowski in the GOP primary, would she defeat Murkowski?
The answer to that is so self evident that Ladbrokes would give no odds on it. Palin would easily beat her and no one in their right mind would deny it. If Palin can do it, then her endorsed candidate can do it.
Lisa Murkowski is not a great candidate and not too swift (as her debate last night with Joe Miller showed). Joe Miller is a West Pointer, a Yale Law Grad and a very smart and committed conservative. Murkowski is a big spending, big government proabort (Republicans for Choice). The Alaska GOP primary is not where she wants to spotlight her record.
In addition to being a liberal Republican, she is also ethically challenged:
In July 2007, Murkowski stated she would sell back land she bought from Anchorage businessman Bob Penney, a day after a Washington watchdog group filed a Senate ethics complaint against her, alleging that Penney sold the property well below market value.[4] The Anchorage Daily News noted, The transaction amounted to an illegal gift worth between $70,000 and $170,000, depending on how the property was valued, according to the complaint by the National Legal and Policy Center. According to the Associated Press, Murkowski bought the land from two developers tied to the Ted Stevens probe.
In 2008, Murkowski amended her Senate financial disclosures for 2004 through 2006, adding income of $60,000 per year from the sale of a property in 2003, and more than $40,000 a year from the sale of her Alaska Pasta Company in 2005

The question is: Can Miller dethrone a sitting U.S. Senator who is the scion of an old Alaska dynasty?
Answer:
The last time a Murkowski ran in a GOP primary was in 2006. The opponent was Palin. That Murkowski, who had been elected statewide FOUR TIMES and was the incumbent governor, got 19% of the vote to Palins 51%. It happened in 2006 against a much more formidable Murkowski. It can happen against this one as well. Murkowski has fans in Alaska, to be sure. They are mostly Democrats, though, who CANNOT vote in the GOP primary.

Thanks for the ping, BC. I'm donating tonight.
A Joe Miller win would be a political earthquake in the GOP. I'm sure pulling for him.
BTW, he was on Mark Levin's show in the last couple of days. What an absolutely impressive fellow!

I drive a concrete mixer all around the Mat-Su valley and I think some of Joes signs are disappearing, where I saw some last week or so they are not at the same place recently, unless they are being moved to more viewable areas I kinda wonder if someone is playing foul.
Lots of places have Murkowskis but no Joe Miller sign, especially as you come into Wasilla from the north just before SBS.
Cute girls whooping it up pretty good the last two chilly mornings at the Parks and Palmer-Wasilla hiway at the mattress store lot. I either honk my air horn or turn on all my emergency strobes if I am in my service truck.
I hope Joe can get some more financing, he honestly deserves to win, its not fair for rich little daddies girl to buy the election. (I mean Lisa Murkowski for our outside FReepers)
Go Joe! yeah!!

Sounds like thievery on the part of Lisa’s paid “volunteers”.
Getting nasty, I think. Lisa has the moeny, so this isn’t sounding good. Of course, democrats for Lisa cn’t vote in the Republican primary, but I guess she can buy votes with registrations in the larger cities. UGH.
