WEST POINT — Cadet Katie Miller said she couldn't listen to her comrades toss around the word "fag" anymore, and making up stories about fictional boyfriends was driving her crazy.

So Miller, a lesbian who ranks No. 9 in her class of future Army leaders, stepped out the closet last weekend and quit West Point.

"I thought I would have the strength to re-closet myself," said Miller, who was openly gay to her family and friends in high school. "I completely underestimated the personal toll it would have on me.

You never know...she may be making a mint from some left-wing group exploiting her for a story...

I’m suspicious of a story that is only written from her perspective...she mentions re-closeting herself, which means that she was at one time open.

I’m sorry, I just have trouble buying it, especially when talking about people using the word f*# in an ethics class. At West Point. Sorry.

I’m sure there are those people that are military types that may use the term “fag”. Especially after this Manning/wikileaks incident.

So let me get this straight.

She opted out of the US Military Academy, where she would receive an education which might prepare her to order troops into battle, because her feelings were hurt??

Good. If you can't take the heat...

"...they asked 50 and 60 year old ladies I worked with at Krogers questions about my spending habits, dating habits, language, etc."

LOL!!!

When the 4th District OSI was checking me out for my FTS, they told my high school pal's mom that folks had reported that we called each other, "Comrade"...

When she picked herself off the floor after ROFLOL, she said,

"Yeah -- whenever one of them screws up, the other one calls him, 'Comrade IDIOT!!"

;-)

I’ve completely turned around and now no longer tolerate those who try to make everyone else uncomfortable in order to avoid their own discomfort.

Thank you. I was afraid that my give a damn was broken. I just realized that I, too, have reached a point where it simply just refuses to even engage in some matters.

I don’t rely on the Catholic church to interpret Biblical scripture. I examine what God’s Word says.

Ten Commandments

VII. Thou shall not commit adultery

X. Thou shall not covet

Leviticus 18: 22

“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.”

Luke 1:51

“He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in his thoughts of their hearts...

Romans 1: 24

“Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts.”

Romans 1: 26

“For this God gave them up to the lust of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.”

The Scripture is quite clear on the subject of man’s heart and sin. You say that it is the action that is the sin. God says that the sin begins in the heart.

The Lord’s Word trumps man’s.

Well I certainly did not give the Catholic view in my post 156. Being tempted isn’t the sin. Entertaining thoughts of the sin is.

Most people that served in the Military have two sets of stories. One for the family, and another for un mixed company. I had my jaw drop quite a few times. But the Army is a very large organization and draws all types.

As far as don't ask don't tell, that worked just fine for me. I didn't want to know. Just do your job.

Security clearances are an entirely different matter. Because if you are outed in the Military you can lose your job homosexuality can become leverage to be used by the bad guys. Even worse the married homosexual can stand to lose everything. His job, his family.

In a small unit their can be no secrets however. They just spend too much time together.

OK ... 'Bye!

That's one less FDRQ in the Army.

"Fine. That's allowed."
Thanks. I appreciate the civility.
I do want to add. I have (having worked in the ballet world) a good friend that told me he is gay but is a virgin. He is a young adult.
Nothing about him speaks to him being mentally ill. Nothing whatsoever unbalanced about him. He functions in the world; he holds a job, he maintains friendships and is quite responsible. He is also a Christian; which is why I think he came to me to tell me about it. I would never refer to him as having a mental illness or being mentally ill.

I did not direct my comment to you, but I will respond to both your posts.

There is a difference between temptation and sin. We can deny temptation, but to sin is to engage in the act, whether it be in the physical or mental, of defiance against God’s will.

Our fellow Freep tries to make the point that you can be a homosexual while not committing a sin. To be homosexual is to sin, as the Bible clearly states.
