"Fine. That's allowed."
Thanks. I appreciate the civility.
I do want to add. I have (having worked in the ballet world) a good friend that told me he is gay but is a virgin. He is a young adult.
Nothing about him speaks to him being mentally ill. Nothing whatsoever unbalanced about him. He functions in the world; he holds a job, he maintains friendships and is quite responsible. He is also a Christian; which is why I think he came to me to tell me about it. I would never refer to him as having a mental illness or being mentally ill.

I see nothing wrong with disagreement. Sometimes it furthers a debate to truth or better fact finding. And peoples beliefs are also made up of their experiences.

That said, I believe that it is a sickness. There's a sickness in the soul and an illness in the mind. The only thing that keeps this young man from acting on the illness is the love of and for the Great Physician. Mental illness does not mean that someone is a ranting lunatic. They may only have abnormal urges. He is to be commended for fighting it. But it is still an illness. Btw, I have a gay brother. And it's a conditioned response.
