In the spirit of understanding and outreach, Rauf could have taken Paterson up on his offer and the whole controversy would have been diffused. Rauf would have gained my respect for taking that route.
Instead, Rauf rejected it outright, without even discussing this with Paterson, making even Paterson wonder, how much more foresighted would it have been if the imam who is the developer of the project had been willing to hear what we are actually talking about?
At least things are out in the open now, unless youre a Ground Zero Mosque supporter and apologist. As many of us had a hunch, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is intent upon building this Mosque as a symbol, a monument to radical Islams greatest victory over Western Civilization. Rauf could have diffused the situation, but instead hes inflaming it!

I say bring the troops home now. There’s no point for our troops to be fighting and dying for nothing in Afghanistan if the cowards who run New York City see fit to surrender.

If there is nothing with letting Muslim extremist build a mosque at Ground Zero, why is Patterson trying to broker a deal?
If Patterson believes that is inappropriate, why isn't he confronting Michael Bloomberg?

The muzzies aren’t going to willingly give up what is their equivalent to the planting of the flag at Iwo Jima.
If allowed to happen, this mosque will be their tribute to the 19 islamists who murdered 3000 infidels.

Why not let them build it? All such centres become Muslim arsenals, and after its basement is filled with ordnanace, we can just blow it up! That seems like a proper course to follow after what they did to the twin towers funded by the Saudis.

"I think they would like to stay where they are"
i.e. the WHOLE POINT for the scumbags is to build this gigantic mosque as close to Ground Zero as possible --- it has nothing to do with serving any "needs" of any worship "community" in the area since of course that part of Manhattan has virtually no Muslim residential community (or any residential community to speak of).
for all who are not brain-dead liberals, this makes it even more blatant that this is ALL about putting Muslim symbols of "triumph" at the spot where they slaughtered thousands....
we are dealing with vicious blood-drinking terrorists, no matter how our State Dept. and brain-dead NYC Mayor may try to pretend otherwise....

Do yall get it yet? This mosque will be built... just like they built one to replace St. Sophia... just like they built one to replace the Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem...
You cannot placate them. They have their Dawah commitment. It is the goal of Islam. To make the entire world an Ummah. That all will bow to 'Al'... and I'm not talking Algore.
And so it will be built. Doesn't the book of Revelation say that the saints will be 'beheaded'? I think things are headed in that direction. Just sayin'

It will be interesting to see if the unions will be willing to build this place. Those opposed should be opening fire now on the many different unions involved.

Everyone knows why they want to build Mohamed's Playhouse and Jihad Center on this location.
It's all about symbolism having to do with their attack on 911.

As many of us had a hunch, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is intent upon building this Mosque as a symbol, a monument to radical Islams greatest victory over Western Civilization.Frankly I am astounded anyone could have ever convinced themselves otherwise. Yet instead of accepting this clear truth people chose to delude themselves by seeing it as a reflection of American tolerance and freedom.
Problem is they do not and will not allow themselves to understand the enemy. This isn't some "quirky" religion, it is a totalitarian political system and front and center in their playbook is to manipulate Western acceptance to facilitate their expansionism. These bleeding hearts will learn the truth one day...and it won't be pleasant for them.

Rauf wants the controversy because when he wins, and he will, it will be an even bigger, more famous prize, thanks to the controversy.

A Greek Orthodox Church was destroyed at ground zero. It is not being allowed to rebuild why?
Why are we coddling these Muslim’s? We don’t owe these people anything, and these politicians are schmooooozing these bast*rds. Offering them land and money, state owned?
What the h*ll is going on this country.
Our enemy is Islam. Our enemy wants Sharia Law. We are even thinking of allowing them this victory.
Have gone mad? Is there no sane elected official out there?
