There Will Be War
Forbes on line ^ | 08/11/10 | Reza Kahlili

Last week, Iran's opposition leaders Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karoubi canceled anti-government demonstrations timed to commemorate the anniversary of last year's disputed presidential election. Secretary of the State Hillary Clinton called the cancellation "regrettable," but missed the larger point. The reform these two men offer is not what the majority of Iranians want: They want an end to the current Islamic regime.

One year ago, the Obama administration missed an opportunity to support Iran's uprising. They mistakenly calculated that back-door negotiations with Iran's clerics and promises made by its rulers would bring cooperation on the nuclear issue. The Americans were duped and now find themselves grasping for another chance to support an Iranian uprising.

Meanwhile, the Obama administration has ordered a massive buildup of U.S. forces in the Persian Gulf starting with Carrier Strike Group 10, headed by the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier. Just last Friday an armada of more than 12 U.S. and Israeli warships passed through the Suez canal amid extreme security provided by Egypt. The ships are headed for the Red Sea and from there to the Persian Gulf. Another four U.S. warships will be making their way to the region to join the Strike Group. The Americans have also conducted joint air and naval strike practices with France and the U.K. under the command of American forces, while Germany is sending warships to the area, also under the command of American forces.

......Saudi Arabia.....

There is a much wider horizon...... all the GCC at the very last.

Kuwait, Saudi arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman.

Then there is Jordan and Iraq.

The oil supply and more importantly control of Islam are at stake.

There will be many more involved in the conflict than the USA who is in my view a minor player

Since the Arabs took over, it’s been in the Stone Age.

Can’t go to war. It would disrupt all zero’s upcoming vacations. Can’t have that now, can we?

LBJ couldn’t run because of Vietnam. How that advanced his interests, I don’t know.

"LBJ couldn’t run because of Vietnam. How that advanced his interests, I don’t know."

Despite his leftism, LBJ didn't want to tear the country apart; he merely wanted to secure long term democrat control over government and the electorate. He couldn't run precisely because society was divided over the war.

Obama himself has said he would rather be a significant one term president...and at the risk of straying into tinfoil territory, he didn't say how long that term might be. I know we talked about it during Clinton and Y2K, and admittedly the left talked about Bush suspending elections due to the WOT or other national crisis. I'm not saying Obama will suspend elections in 2012 (or 2016), but I do believe he'd have no problem whatsoever trying it if he believed he could get away with it. The bigger the external crisis and the more desperate the domestic situation, the easier it will be for him to get away with it.

(Carpet bomb the SOBs until they beg for mercy!)

This is not necessary. Any competent 03 can plan a time on target operation using cruise missiles that will take out Iran's command and control. Then the people of Iran will rise up and rip to shreds any fools that are left. The end!

Think about it this way. Most people don’t understand the Muslim community. Muslims are devided into two groups, Sunni and Shiite. They hate each other.

Now, consider this. Iran is the last Shiite stronghold in the Mid East. Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Afganisan, and the rest of the Middle East countries are majority Sunni. Obama was schooled in Indonesia in a Wahabi school which is Sunni so that’s where his heart is. Don’t forget that Rev. Wright also has his religious roots in Sunni Islam.

Saudi Arabia has now allowed Israel to have a base there so that Israel can strike Iran without re-fueling.

If Saudi Arabia, Israel, India, and America combine to totally and completley destroy the Shiite leadership in Iran the Sunni would have complete control of the Middle East.

Obama would look good because he helped elliminate the threat of Iran with nuclear weapons.

The people of Israel would like that because that threat is gone.
The people in Arab countries would like it because he put Sunni in power.
Many people in the US, particularly those who think something needs to be done about Iran, would think he may be a tougher President then they thought.

Obama would then be in a good position to broker a peace deal between Israel and the Arab world.

Then all yell breaks out.

If you paid attention, you would know the tallest building in the world is in Dubai. Not exactly stone age.

Wow..... what a breath of fresh air.

A voice of reason and enlightenment is sorely needed to counter the embarrassing degree of ignorance of the Arabs and other Islamic nations on this forum.

Please don’t let them chase you away and they will try hard

LOL. You really think Obama is his own man? Come now. He will do as he is told by his ultra-rich elite puppet masters who control the military industrial complex and most of the world’s wealth. We must learn to see past the GOP/Rat chess game and focus on who owns the chess board & chess pieces.

How true. I wish more people would see that what we are experiencing did not start happening with Obama's election. Common sense tells you this. It's have been going on hot and heavy through the past three administrations (Bush I, Clinton, Bush II), and way before that.
