The emergence of former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio as a candidate for the U.S. Senate has energized conservatives not only across Florida but across the country, as well.
Mr. Rubio, 39, is the hands-down choice in this race against two little-known candidates: William Escoffery III is a Jamaican-born physician based in Shalimar who moved to Florida in 1977. William Billy Kogut is an Ormond Beach real-estate salesman who moved to Florida in 1995.
In a sense, Mr. Rubio, running as a conservative's conservative, can already claim a big victory. What once seemed a long-shot challenge against Gov. Charlie Crist when Mr. Rubio entered the race turned into a rout that forced Mr. Crist to seek the Senate seat as an independent rather than contesting Mr. Rubio for votes on the right.
In the race for the U.S. Senate, Republican primary, The Miami Herald recommends MARCO RUBIO.

The Tampa Tribune also recommends Rubio in the Republican primary.
Guarantee Herald will recommmed Ms. Christ in the general another worthless paper.
Good. I hope the horrible Crist doesn’t ruin things and make us end up with the Dem.
Can someone explain that;Open border and Amnesty? should have made his parents stay in Cuba and fight Castro instead of coming here and fighting Americans to infest and destroy their Hard Earned Country.!
Mike
Thanks for posting that. Despite the endorsement of the Miami Herald I am voting for Dr Bill Escoffer in the Republican Primary. Did you know Dr Escoffery was a FReeper?
Yeah, I know.
Once again, you waste your vote. This Dr. has no chance of winning and it only splits the votes needed to defeat Crist and the Democrat. I’m sure this guy is commendable, but, its Ross Perot all over again.
Remember, we ended up with another 8 years of Clinton because of Perot siphoning votes. Like her or not, Sarah endorses the candidates who have a chance to beat the Dem machine. Rubio has name recognition.
No one can tell another how to vote, but, people should use common sense, especially in this all-important election year.
A vote is only wasted if it isn’t cast.
If your way of thinking is the correct way to think then .. we may as well ALL stay home.
To you and others like you, it is a done deal.
Crist or Rubio has already won and yet .. not a single vote has been cast!
Maybe, just maybe .. someday enough people will have gotten so fed up with the Totally Corrupt ‘TWO PARTY’ system that they wont cast a vote for the Sure winner!
Maybe someday that ‘wasted’ vote wont wont be such a waste anymore!
Now .. To My way of thinking .. a ‘wasted vote’ is the one that you cast .. while holding your nose!
Even though the idiots at the HURLED endorsed him, I’ll still vote for Rubio. :)
WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s nice but you and I both no he has no chance of winning. Every vote counts. Give yours to someone that can beat Crist.
Little known is right; I live practically next door to Shalimar, read the local news, listen to local radio, and the only place I’ve seen this Escoferry dude’s name is on FreeRepublic. Not one sign or anything. Clearly he doesn’t actually want the nomination.
Marco has the money no doubt about. But don’t say that the lack of funds is a reflection of the desire to win the election. Very hard to compete with the GOP RINO fundraising machine. A lot of Rubio’s money came from people who now support Dr. Escoffery. And from folks who will vote for Crist is the General election and think Marco is easier to beat than Escoffery. Think about this folks. I don’t see Dr. Escoffery’s mention of his lack of engagement in the primary as an attack. Dr. Escoffery WANTS to debate Rubio on the issues not attack his position just debate their differences. And let the GOP primary voters decide who they eant to put against Crist in the general election
Unfortunately, all we have is the 2 party system. Any attempts at a 3rd and the Republicans are toast.
As I said, didn’t anyone learn from the Ross Perot candidacy? Apparently, not.
Yeah, sorry. He lives in the most conservative area of the entire state, with a local conservative morning show that lets the local restaurant owner guy come talk whenever he wants, and he can’t get any air time at all?
Apparently, the only campaigning Escofferry has done is on FR. His “consultant” is poster #16.
Hussein and his thugs would love to have Crist in the Senate. If his race v. Rubio tightens, I expect Meek will get a phone call from Rahmbo to drop out and support Crist.
