“Granting it was the LINCOLN memorial, as soon as the National Anthem was challenged they should have promptly switched to singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic. Abe would have appreciated the switch.”

To really get ‘em bent out of shape, they should’ve sang “Dixie”!

“Let’s hope that he’s in good voice that day.”

Of that I have no doubt. That’s the least of our conerns.

Schlosser explained that performances, regardless of content, are banned to “maintain a contemplative and reverent area for the Lincoln Memorial, for the other guests and visitors.”

Reverent? For Abraham Lincoln? Are we supposed to worship him now?

Un-flipping-believable. Talk about idolatry!

I can hear Lincoln laughing himself silly over this.

I have been afraid of violence, that never happened, many times at events.

I can no longer be afraid.

I don’t want to miss participating in anything!

Yeah, and it’s noisy as heck in there.

I’d rather hear kids singing the National Anthem than the echoing screams of disrespectful adults and their children crawling all over the Memorial.

Who are probably the same idiots who took flash photos of the Constitution at the National Archives notwithstanding the signs and verbal admonitions not to.

“Instead of doing as they were instructed”???
The question here is why a group shouldn’t be allowed to sing the National Anthem when according to another post, “Pinatas parties and Muslim prayer meeting are authorized at the memorial, if kept low key. However American patriot songs and American flag T-shirts are not allow...These rules have been in effect for years and were implemented so as not to offend foreigners.” If this is true, every group of American Citizens that visit the Lincoln Memorial should sing the National Anthem.

The NPS is out of bounds. Refer to the recent ruling by Judge Brown of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in Boardley v. U.S. Department of the Interior:

http://www.leagle.com/unsecure/news.do?feed=yellowbrix&storyid=148441084

“Religious missionaries and political activists will have more freedom to speak out in Yosemite, Great Smoky Mountains and other national parks under an important appellate court ruling.

In an expansive First Amendment decision, a key appellate court struck down a longstanding National Park Service requirement that activists obtain permits before they demonstrate, distribute brochures or engage in other “expressive” activities in parks.”

Bravo to these young patriots for asserting their rights to the agents of creeping stateism!
