"When you eliminate the Black Confederate soldier, you've eliminated the history of the South."---The late Dr. Leonard Haynes, Professor, Southern University

These quotes are from his purported speech to the Independent Order of Pole-Bearers in Memphis not long before his death.
I would be happy to agree that such sentiments are laudable in the General.
Sadly, I have not yet been shown contemporary evidence he actually made such a speech. If you have any, I’d be glad to see it.
Non-sequitur is really just a troll. His responses have the distinct pattern of a troll, i.e., he calls someone a liar or racist or homosexual, etc., but never repudiates them with credible documentation.
It's been rumored that DSK/non-sequitur spends almost as much time over at DU laughing at the conservatives on FR as he does trolling FR for WoNA threads.
It's quite pathetic, actually.
He/she/it claims to be living in Kansas but he/she/it is really from Chicago and is probably connected to Ovomit/Ayers/Dohrn/Wright/Emanuel and the rest of the Chicago thugs.
BTW, he had the below pic in his photobucket account. It ought to tell you everything you need to know about this creep:
Have you actually ever read Varina Davis' book? I have. Have you ever read any other biography of either Davis? Cooper's book on Davis? Or Cashin's book on Varina? Of course not, that would be too much work. I've actually read them all, as well as Chesnut's diary and a lot of Jefferson Davis' history of the confederacy (A more boring book was never written IMHO). In some of them - Cooper's and Davis' books - Limber is never mentioned. In the rest Limber is mentioned in passing, something between an "awww, ain't that cute" and a "what on earth were they thinking" kind of thing. But all accounts agree on one thing - there was no adoption. Varina Davis never refers to him as an adopted son, or any kind of relation. Limber was apparently allowed to stay as a plaything for the younger Davis children. He was not particularly valued, any more than any other family servant was valued. I've never seen any confirmation that he left Richmond with the Davis' or that either Davis took any particular pains to find out what happened to him. Your 'adopted child' claims are a figment of your simple Southron imagination, and yet another instance of a Lost Cause myth without basis in fact.
I'm sure that NS and the coven would, like their hero Sherman, gladly export all Southerners from the South.
Of course, that leaves the void being filled with yankees who would turn the South into a hot, humid version of their northron shitholes. Go to south Florida sometime and check out what 50 years of yankee immigration has done down there.
But the fact is, NS and the coven ain't got the stones to exile one Southerner much less the entire Confederacy. I laugh every time I think about those pantywaist yankees puffing themselves up full bravado and making their hollow threats.
His post #183 is so full of crap that it's, well, like all his other posts!
I've actually read them all,
A common claim that NS/DSK makes about every book that's ever been written.
there was no adoption.
Perhaps because there was no adoption law in Virginia at that time and any adoption would have been an extralegal one? Oops! You left that part out, didn't you DSK. Just one more example of the millions of DSK's lies, myths and revisionism.
I've never seen any confirmation that he left Richmond with the Davis' or that either Davis took any particular pains to find out what happened to him.
Limber was with the Davis' at the time of their capture and was taken from them by the damn yankees.
And since President Davis spent the next two years in a yankee prison and was the most hated man in the north, it would seem that any reasonable person of intellect would quickly deduce that Davis' resources were probably extremely limited thereby making the location of one Jim Limber somewhat difficult, if not impossible. Of course, we can't expect NS/DSK to embrace reason, now can we.
Your 'adopted child' claims
See above. BTW, I've decided to 'adopt' you as my favorite yankee to hate but since there's no laws in SC allowing the adoption of massive piles of buzzard dung I guess I'll have to adopt you extra-legally.
myth without basis in fact.
You, dung pile, are the notorious one for being factually challenged. It's your forte, your MO, your genetic being!
We all KNOW IT, we all LAUGH AT YOU and we all LOVE to HATE YOU FOR IT!
Can't you?
It was about control, and making the Southern States pay...Isn't that the truth ?
Nope.
I live in MD.
I’m already overrun by carpetbaggers.
That’s why, when we take the bikes out, we go south or west.
To the east lies the majority of the infestation.
We’ll just stay out this way with the rest of The Unreconstructed and not get murdered, thanks.
That one had a Stand Watie feel to it.
Agree. The North needs the South but the converse is not true. See the South is the spine of the country. Without the South the country loses it's spine and becomes an invertebrate, kind of like your Yankee ancestors....
LOL
I'm the one leaving it out? The claim was made that Limber was Davis' adopted son. I've pointed out that the claim is nonsense, and you've provided support that backs my position. I suppose I should thank you for it, but your supporting my position was accidental at best and sloppiness on your part at worst.
Limber was with the Davis' at the time of their capture and was taken from them by the damn yankees.
And that is based on what source? I've seen versions of the story that have Limber ripped from Varina's loving bosom when the Yankees marched into Richmond. But Lost Causers have never let accuracy stand in the way of a good Southron myth.
Reason is not something we often see in one of your posts. And evidence that Davis had any interest in Limber once his usefulness was over is as just as nonexistent. But again, it makes for such a nice fairy tale to say he spent the post war years searching high and low for the little tyke.
BTW, I've decided to 'adopt' you as my favorite yankee to hate but since there's no laws in SC allowing the adoption of massive piles of buzzard dung I guess.
Based of the mouth-foaming hatred you've directed towards others I'd say I'm one of a dozen or so Yankees you love to hate. Where would you be without your hatred to keep you warm at night?
You, dung pile, are the notorious one for being factually challenged. It's your forte, your MO, your genetic being!
Being called 'factually challenged' by someone like you is like being called ugly by an orangutang.
I actually have read both of Varina’s books and a whole bunch of other other CW books. I have a long list. But that means nothing to you because the only thing that does matter to you is your own opinion, which is really sad. I pity you. And I laugh at you. *snicker snicker*
Btw, did you even go to the link I gave you in that other post? It doesn’t sound like you did because you are still spouting lunacy....you’re kind of like old faithful. We can always rely on you to spout frequent bs. :) That’s one thing good about you though. You’re reliable. Same ol’ same ‘ol..... lol
thank you , for the great post
so who was Zak before he re-registered?
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
thank you, I’m reading them now
for TN then a perfect example was Bedford Forest who had blacks with him
A whole bunch, huh? So what other book of Varina's did you read? I'm aware of her two volume POS about her husband. Did she actually write another?
I pity you. And I laugh at you. *snicker snicker*
Not as long or as hard as we laugh at you.
Btw, did you even go to the link I gave you in that other post?
That link to the site that talked about the Jim Limber mythology? Yeah I went there. Very amusing.
I lived there and I will say you are correct.
Boston is without a doubt the most racist city in this country, not only racist but also bigoted to any one who are different to them come from not where they come from or heritage.
I came across this many many times there and was told to go back to where I come from etc.
I got into many many fights on the street there too .
They might pretend they are tolerant and open but the fact is that because some of the yuppies might not say the N word does not take away their bigotry or class bigotry
Obviously the south isn't much of a backbone if it went belly up like they did. But if we're comparing the South to body parts, I've got a certain orifice in mind which is a far more apt comparison.
Memphis Daily Avalanche, July 6, 1875
July 4, 1875 Memphis, Tennessee -
Nathan Bedford Forrest was invited to speak by the Jubilee of Pole Bearers, a political and social organization in the post-war era comprised of Black Southerners. Miss Lou Lewis was introduced to General Forrest then presented him with a bouquet of flowers and said: Mr. Forrest allow me to present you this bouquet as a token, of reconciliation, an offering of peace and good will.
General Forrest received the flowers with a bow, and replied:
Miss Lewis, ladies and gentlemen I accept these flowers as a token of reconciliation between the white and colored races of the South. I accept them more particularly, since they come from a colored lady, for if there is any one on Gods great earth who loves the ladies, it is myself.
This is a proud day for me. Having occupied the position I have for thirteen years, and being misunderstood by the colored race, I take this occasion to say that I am your friend. I am here as the representative of the Southern people one that has been more maligned than any other.
I assure you that every man who was in the Confederate army is your friend. We were born on the same soil, breathe the same air, live in the same land, and why should we not be brothers and sisters.
When the war broke out I believed it to be my duty to fight for my country, and I did so. I came here with the jeers and sneers of a few white people, who did not think it right. I think it is right, and will do all I can to bring about harmony, peace and unity. I want to elevate every man, and to see you take your places in your shops, stores and offices.
I dont propose to say anything about politics, but I want you to do as I do go to the polls and select the best men to vote for. I feel that you are free men, I am a free man, and we can do as we please. I came here as a friend and whenever I can serve any of you I will do so.
We have one Union, one flag, one country; therefore, let us stand together. Although we differ in color, we should not differ in sentiment.
Many things have been said in regard to myself, and many reports circulated, which may perhaps be believed by some of you, but there are many around me who can contradict them. I have been many times in the heat of battle oftener, perhaps, than any within the sound of my voice. Men have come to me to ask for quarter, both black and white, and I have shielded them.
Do your duty as citizens, and if any are oppressed, I will be your friend. I thank you for the flowers, and assure you that I am with you in heart and hand
