WASHINGTON (AP) - These were supposed to be heady days for African-Americans in Congress, with President Barack Obama occupying the White House and a half dozen blacks holding powerful committee chairmanships and leadership jobs. Yet the past two weeks have been more of a nightmare.
Two of Congress' most senior African-Americans, Democratic Reps. Charles Rangel of New York and Maxine Waters of California, are fighting to save their reputations and quite possibly their jobs over ethics allegations. On Tuesday night, seven-term Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick of Michigan was ousted in the Democratic primary, and several other lawmakers have lost bids for higher office or struggled to get traction.

FYI Michelle ROBINSON Obama’s parents were from the Friends Plantation area...AS was Jesse ROBINSON Jackson (His biological father was Noah Robinson.
Michelle spent a great deal of time in the Jackson home as a child and young adult (babysitting..enough time to be called SIS by family members)....(source was a freeper who lived nearby and witnessed)

The only current black senator, Roland Burris, decided against running for re-election as his political benefactor—disgraced former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who appointed Burris to fill the vacant seat left by Obama—faces corruption charges.
Burris was paid 5,000/month from Loop Enterprises. Loop was run by BO's BIL and best friend. They were involved in the pay for play scheme in Philadelphia.

Watching TCM you see Blacks as ignorant ghetto-types-—in the movies, they were servants, boot-polishers, lackeys -—b/c the moguls employed Blacks in that capacity in their homes and businesses.

The irony is that at one time, he was one of the wealthiest blacks in America. He was in over 400 films ;-)
He was the first black actor to become a millionaire, but he was forced to declare bankruptcy in 1947 w/ only $146 to his name. Probably b/c of gambling-—his screen name was based on a winning race horse.
He reportedly converted to Islam in the 1960s. Civil rights leaders criticized him for the film roles he portrayed. However in 1976, the Hollywood chapter of the NAACP awarded him a Special Image Award. Two years later, he was inducted into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame.
In April 1969, his son, Donald Lambright, traveled the Pennsylvania Turnpike shooting people. He injured 15 and killed 3 before turning the gun on himself.
