I wish someone would destroy it but when it's all said and done I believe nothing will be done. The city will pay extra to have it guarded, anyone causing problems will be arrested for hate crimes all in the name of diversity.

Heck, I bet the mayor will be there for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Lohan will be back in the headlines tomorrow and America will go back to sleep. This makes me sick.

Hey you self loathing Jews in NYC. Why not vote to build Hitler monuments in front of every Temple in the City? What's the difference?

Schumer, Bloomberg can you here me?

Isn't there a city in Michigan that has a mosque that transmits that awful call to prayer five times a day?

Here in Texas, the Fort Hood shooter/terrorist can't find a bank that will cash his paychecks.

Glad I live in Texas.

How can the site of the mosque itself become so “unholy” that they cannot build there?

Let them build the first story.

Then drop half a ton of pig guts on the uncompleted building.

Repeat as needed.

There will be so much oil money thrown at this that it’ll shut up everyone from the top gov guys to the army of cops that’ll defend it, including many that knew those lost on 9/11. Money’s all this is about for most.

Another thing I love to see is on du, they say ‘no religous buildings anywhere’ and get big cheers. But in general, they love this mosque idea. If NYC allows this to happen I’ll regret ever feeling bad for what happened to them and will not feel bad when they get hit again.

I'm going to be attacked for this, but.... good. Of course, this mosque should not be built (and I like the idea of a BBQ joint across the street, though I doubt it will be particularly offensive - muslims don't like alcohol either, and there are already bars on that block). But, I don't think the government has any authority to prevent them from building on private property.

I think the way to fight this is (1) take to the streets and protest, loudly (and don't stop, even after it's built), and (2) look into their funding. The NYAG has the authority to oversee the funding of any charity/religious group, and he ought to be using it to look very closely at this group.

Owners and insurers see that a mosque on site will deter future terrorist attacks.

I wonder how people would everybody feel about a KKK group setting up their clubhouse in the spot MLK was shot?

How about members of Manson’s cult buying the property of Sharon Tate and building a compound?

A gun range next door to Columbine?

An Oldsmobile dealership on Chappaquiddick Island?

Think there would be any outrage?

There are those in NY who think you haven't suffered enough.

Thanks, NYC Landmarks Commission.. for nothing.

A woman carries a sign as she attends a meeting of the New York City Landmarks Commission in lower Manhattan, August 3, 2010. The City agency denied "landmark" status for an old building near the site of the September 11 attacks, clearing the way for the building to be torn down to make room for a Muslim cultural center which has spurred heated debate.
