NEW YORK Anne Rice has had a religious conversion: She's no longer a Christian.
"In the name of Christ, I refuse to be anti-gay. I refuse to be anti-feminist. I refuse to be anti-artificial birth control," the author wrote Wednesday on her Facebook page. "In the name of ... Christ, I quit Christianity and being Christian. Amen."
Rice, 68, is best known for "Interview With a Vampire" and other gothic novels. Raised as a Catholic, she had rejected the church early in her life but renewed her faith in recent years and in 2008 released the memoir "Called Out of Darkness: A Spiritual Confession."
In a telephone interview Thursday, Rice said she had been having doubts for the past two to three years. She was troubled by the child abuse scandals in the church, and the church's defensive reaction, and by the ex-communication of Sister Margaret McBride, a nun and hospital administrator who had approved an abortion for a woman whose life was in danger.
"I believed for a long time that the differences, the quarrels among Christians didn't matter a lot for the individual, that you live your life and stay out of it. But then I began to realize that it wasn't an easy thing to do," said Rice, speaking from her home near Palm Springs, Calif. "I came to the conclusion that if I didn't make this declaration, I was going to lose my mind."
Rice said she is a Democrat who supports the health care legislation signed into law by President Barack Obama and believes gay marriage inevitably will be permitted throughout the country. Although no longer part of any denomination, she remains a believer and continues to read theology and post Biblical passages on her Facebook page.

Can a straight consistent “democrat” be an assumed and consistent christian? I don’t think so !
Christianism has become more and more confuse in our times since the Church of J.Christ has been jeopardized with a very poor sense of legacy , tradition and respect for our parents’ work....

Maybe ann should stop writing and start reading - her bible.
What else can you say about this vampire drek? What mindless drek. And this woman got rich off it. Last time I saw some vampire stuff was when I was a kid
Now this vampire drek is bigger than ever and zombies too.
Exactly!
Someday, she will learn that the price for spending eternity with her son wasn’t worth it.
Indeed.
I met Ann Rice many years ago. I didn't know who she was at the time, Interview with a Vampire had just been published, I was in a bookstore browsing the sci-fi/fantasy section and she walked up to me and recommended her own book and offered to autograph it. I declined because I never was into vampire type stories. We only talked for like 5 minutes but she struck me as a melancholy person.
The praise goes to the "greatest generation" that managed to raise the most egotistic, anti-American, and best confused children.
Rice is a Christian name....what did she convert from to begin with?
odd
“It’s kind of a relief that she’s not claiming to be a Christian anymore. “
If I read the blurp correctly, she still claims to be a Christian. She is no longer Catholic.
I think there’s too much money to be made in vampires these days. My buck says she gets involved with them again to increase her fortunes.
Well, IMHO...it is the ‘path’ not the people; and so forgive those for ignorance committed; but no reason to jump the path, so to speak (particularly given her public walk); but whatever; we all own our footsteps. Hope this woman finds her peace. . .(and stops erasing her past, as quickly as she writes it).
So she got some media attention and sold a few more books by claiming Christianity and now that that has gone away, she’s denouncing her beliefs for MORE attention. Hmmmm ... goes to show how much conviction liberals have.
The words of Jesus.

It is not merely how she was brought up. Even church-going Christians are ignorant of basic doctrine. Most people equate being a Christian to attending church with a lot of other people while trying to find ways to be better people.
In order to control people the organized church often resorts to legalism and thereby pervert the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Every human being has earned, is earning and will earn death and hell. God’s grace through His Son, Jesus Christ, gives us life and heaven. Sin earns me death, faith in Christ gives me life.
Sin is a never-failing part of our life. Those who cannot trust in God’s grace, re-label sin as something acceptable to God. What was trust and submission to the holiness of God becomes rebellion and pride. It is next to impossible to be delivered from something you have convinced yourself is good.
A believer who repeatedly fails to overcome his sinful behavior is in a much better place than a non-believer who in his or her own strength lives a slightly more moral life.
You’ll notice that her denial is based solely on what other people say. She is allowing other people to do her thinking for her. She’s not the brightest bulb in the fixture.
I tried to read Lestat but it is homo-erotic literature written by a woman. Complete nonsense. D H Lawrence can write homo-erotic. Rice writes it like someone who knows nothing about it.
great passage
