(07-27) 16:22 PDT SAN QUENTIN STATE PRISON -- A man newly arrived at San Quentin State Prison after being convicted of murder and drunken driving in the death of a 9-year-old Novato girl was fatally stabbed by another inmate, authorities said Tuesday.

Edward John Schaefer, 44, of Novato was stabbed in the chest and neck at about 10:35 a.m. Monday in the prison's reception center yard and died that night, said Lt. Sam Robinson, prison spokesman.

Bad people killing bad people. One reason why some folks disapprove of the death penalty is that they don't want innocent people to die. Well, if Souza had been executed for the murder he committed, then Schaefer would still be alive. Now, I don't call Schaefer "innocent", but it seems clear to me that the lack of a death penalty here has resulted in yet another murder.

Bizarre. A murderer with a "White Power" tattoo on his forehead and a last name that is most commonly found in Brazil kills a man of German ancestry who is responsible for the vehicular homicide of a young girl with a Jewish last name.

Only in America, I guess.

Schaefer's killed his last child, at least.

Notice they got a quote from the Mother but not the Father. This honestly sounds like a contract hit to me. I wonder if the Father paid a biker gang to have the guy stabbed?
