There must be an unspoken strategy. As you, rsxid, know so well, Barry was born a British subject. Even Patrick Leahy, along with every U.S. Senator in April 2008, agreed that a natural born citizen is born of two citizen parents. There is nothing to discover. Obama never defined himself as a natural born citizen. He said, on fightthesmears.com, “I am a native born citizen of the U.S.” and admitted to dual citizenship. That was, as he knows well, a clear admission that he is not a natural born citizen, and no one stopped him from taking office. He said he is a jus soli citizen, born somewhere on U.S. soil, and not a jus sanguinis citizen, born of citizen parents. Our presidents must be both. I hope LtCol Lakin has excellent lawyers.

Nancy Pelosi presumably signed at least one, and reportedly two, certifications for the only two states which required eligibility validation, Hawaii and Arizona. It sounds like Obama may be covered, because he never claimed to be a natural born citizen, and said before the election that he believed that the Constitution had historical relevance, but needed a new bill of rights to enable him to do what he felt society needed. He might have a problem with the oath of office, which took three trys, and Pelosi probably has immunity as a Senator. But his intention was always to change things, almost certainly including the Constitution. It depends upon what is is!

LtCol Lakin clearly has the courage of his convictions. I wish Dr. Lakin would use the attention his sacrifice has gained him to help others understand what our framers intended based upon their own words, in the Federalist Papers, Dr. Ramsay's Dissertation, Joseph Story, Hamilton, Jefferson, Marshall, etc. etc. We know Obama is not eligible because he told us. Lakin appears not to know that; that is very puzzling! There appears to be a conspiracy to ignore the words of our Constitution and its authors. If enough people were willing to support an amendment to make McCain eligible, that is reasonable. Birth to citizen parents, naturalized, native, or natural born, makes good sense. It does not make sense to ignore one or the other, but as Larry Tribe pointed out, including the children of citizens who happen to be born overseas was considered in 1790, but rescinded in 1795. What is happening now amounts to colluding on a convenient blind spot. It sets a terrible precedent.

This “birther” thing just won’t die and its zombie-like nature is starting to annoy an awful lot of Americans. And that is dangerous.

Every lawsuit gets shot down as “frivolous” or the plaintiff has “no standing” or some damn excuse and we’re sick of it. Not one single judge has shown the balls to let this thing be heard on its merits and that is infuriating.

Does anybody think Lt. Col. Lakin will get anywhere with his request? Of course not! His commanding general won’t have the stones to live up to his oath, just like all the rest, and we all know it.

Of course he was born in Hawaii. If that were not true Bush would not have been in such a rush to hand him the torch way before the election. Why even most of congress knows that he was born in Hawaii, otherwise they wouldn't have been in such a rush to abdicate and allow him to rule by edict.
