PHOENIX A judge has blocked the most controversial sections of Arizona's new immigration law from taking effect Thursday, handing a major legal victory to opponents of the crackdown.
The law will still take effect Thursday, but without many of the provisions that angered opponents including sections that required officers to check a person's immigration status while enforcing other laws.

There never was...there isn't...a mandatory requirement to check immigration status.
I hope so, but... we'll see.
You have that right!! I've never changed sheets in such a fit of anger as I did today!!!
I meant that figuratively. What I mean is the Gov. should enforce AZ law and fund a true AZ militia which is totally Constitutional. Take back the AZ National Guard too. That is legal also.
“Obama is going to wish he lost this decision.
This will only galvanize voters for the GOP.”
Frankly I’m sick and f___ing tired of the concept that we win somehow, by losing.
Yeah, the voters may get mad and throw the bastards out,
but what evidence do you have that the GOP will roll back
any of the madness that has already been put in place?
I’m just glad that I’m 52 and not 22. I won’t have to live for 50+ years under Left-wing tyrants and despots.
Therefore, the Court cannot and will not enjoin S.B. 1070 in its entirety, as certain parties to lawsuits challenging the enactment have requested. The Court is obligated to consider S.B. 1070 on a section by section and provision by provision basis. So, for example, as of July 29th you can lose your license to do business in the State of Arizona if you hire illegal aliens. And cities no longer can enforce their proclamation as "sanctuary cities" and prevent their own law enforcement people to fail to cooperate with enforcing immigration law.Other than seeking a preliminary injunction as to S.B. 1070, the United States has not made any argument to preliminarily enjoin and the Court therefore does not enjoin the following provisions of S.B. 1070:
Section 1 of S.B. 1070
no A.R.S. citation: providing the intent of the legislation
Portions of Section 2 of S.B. 1070
A.R.S. § 11-1051(A): prohibiting Arizona officials, agencies, and political subdivisions from limiting enforcement of federal immigration laws
A.R.S. § 11-1051(C)-(F): requiring that state officials work with federal officials with regard to unlawfully present aliens
A.R.S. § 11-1051(G)-(L): allowing legal residents to sue any state official, agency, or political subdivision for adopting a policy of restricting enforcement of federal immigration laws to less than the full extent permitted by federal law
Section 4 of S.B. 1070
A.R.S. § 13-2319: amending the crime of human smuggling
Portion of Section 5 of S.B. 1070
A.R.S. § 13-2928(A)-(B): creating a crime for stopping a motor vehicle to pick up day laborers and for day laborers to get in a motor vehicle if it impedes the normal movement of traffic
Section 7 of S.B. 1070
A.R.S. § 23-212: amending the crime of knowing employment of unauthorized aliens
Section 8 of S.B. 1070
A.R.S. § 23-212.01: amending the crime of intentional employment of unauthorized aliens
Section 9 of S.B. 1070
A.R.S. § 23-214: amending the requirements for checking employment eligibility
Section 11 of S.B. 1070
A.R.S. § 41-1724: creating the gang and immigration intelligence team enforcement mission fund
Sections 12 & 13 of S.B. 1070
no A.R.S. citation: administering S.B. 1070
Applying the proper legal standards based upon well-established precedent, the Court finds that the United States is not likely to succeed on the merits in showing that the following provisions of S.B. 1070 are preempted by federal law, and the Court therefore does not enjoin the enforcement of the following provisions of S.B. 1070:
Portion of Section 5 of S.B. 1070
A.R.S. § 13-2929: creating a separate crime for a person in violation of a criminal offense to transport or harbor an unlawfully present alien or encourage or induce an unlawfully present alien to come to or live in Arizona
Section 10 of S.B. 1070
A.R.S. § 28-3511: amending the provisions for the removal or impoundment of a vehicle to permit impoundment of vehicles used in the transporting or harboring of unlawfully present aliens
But they can’t discriminate on race so if they can’t say you LOOK ILLEGAL, then, by equal protection, they can’t say you LOOK LEGAL either.
I believe that he won’t be running for ‘12. He won’t take a chance of a naturalized citizen who will be refused a place on the ballots and will sue for ALL candidates to prove eligibility and show ALL records, including but not limited to, education records!

Remember; dont let a crisis go to waste. The problem is, would our elected reps. have the stones to do it and kick the Media in the gut?
Great find! Haven’t seen ANYONE mention this. Post everywhere and anywhere you can!
So, the US and especially Arizona is the world’s bitch now? To be sold off or given to the highest bidder?
They can first determine if the person has committed a felony. No felony, no immigration check.
The law never did require the cops to check status.

I think if Arizona shows some spine, and resists this totalitarianism, that they will set in motion a torrential cascade of positive events.
The anger, support and resolve are there. What is badly needed is a catalyst. to set things in motion.
In case you all missed this one. And no where in the article does it mention that the attackers were black.

I was given a ticket in the NYC subway for walking from one car to the next. I was taken off the train and held on the platform for a good 20 minutes while they checked me out from birth to that moment.
After this ruling it would seem my rights were violated.
