Attacking Angle: MSNBC Honcho Thinks Only Big-Government Believers Should Run For Office
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Senators Wanted: Non-believers in big government need not apply.

That would apparently be the classified ad Mark Whitaker would run. Criticizing Sharon Angle this morning, MSNBC's DC bureau chief sniffed that people like her "are running to be part of a government they don't believe in."

Whitaker made his remark in the course of commenting on a Politico story about Angle walking away from an event without speaking with reporters. But the bigger story is the MSM mindset that Whitaker exposed: the only people who are worthy of office are those who look at the government in DC and believe in what they see. Candidates with strong objections to the size and scope of our government, who want to cut it down to size, are unworthy, indeed, illegitimate.

I hope Angle wins. She made some misteps that Reid took advantage of. She is raising money now though and will need to go on the attack soon using it. Reid is a glass house, if she were to lose it would be a bad sign for this country. If I see some decent attack ads on Reid, I will send her some money too.

The left fear that if a significant number of small government believers are elected, that government might actually be reduced!

"Running to be in a government they don't believe in."

The utter arrogance of that statement.

This is an old cognitive problem for the Left:

"Don't believe in abortion? [shrug] Don't have one."

It totally misses the point that some people see an activity (abortion, oppressive government intrusion) and want to get involved in making the problem go away.

I understand that the Left wants more of the problem (because what we see as a problem, they see as a good thing), but when they de-legitimize the other side's right to get involved, it's a bit chilling.

RE :”How is she going to attack reid WITHOUT money? send her some now!”

It takes more than money . Many sent RNC Steele money and are sorry. (no she is not politically the same as Steele) There are so many things to hit Reid on, I want to see a sign that she will effectively use any money I send her. How much can a few effective youtube ads cost her to show us she is serious? The cable channels will play them for free.

So far she gave democrats a few easy shots at her that had nothing to do with money (except their use of them) and her polls dropped.

It’s a given that the Democrats will attack her but when is the Republican Party going to step up and defend her? Maybe her poll numbers would be better if the NRC would show a little fight and give her the support she not only needs, but deserves.

Sharron is up to $2.1M from lots of little doners.
I am proud to say I send $50 at the $300k mark and again at the $600K mark.

It was a small price to pay to take a chance on seeing Reid go down.

Please send some money. Anything.

I live in Calif. not Nevada.

I wonder where we would be today of the Continental Congress asked George Washington to win a few battles before they would fund his army.

Hopefully her drop in the polls (temporary I hope) and the liberal celebrating will help her fund-raise, but I still would like to see a sample of what my investment would bring on youtube.

In 2004 I couldn't give Bush money out of principle but I was so impressed by the Swift Boat Vets internet ads (played free on cable) that I donated to them to defeat Kerry.

Still glad I didn't give to Bush. Maybe we need a Swift Boat Vets group against Harry Reid.. If Angle blows this one it's a bad sign for this country.

“The left fear that if a significant number of small government believers are elected, that government might actually be reduced!”

I would also add the left fear a small government because most would love their livelihood not to mention a smaller government with a reformed tax code would be the REAL transfer of wealth from the unproductive public sector to a much more efficient private sector.

Good for you sending her money. It's yours to do what you feel is right.

RE :”I wonder where we would be today of the Continental Congress asked George Washington to win a few battles before they would fund his army

I think if George Washington accidentally attacked and wiped out his own troops in the first battle and then took that argument that he needed more money before he could explain how he corrected the problem, we would have British socialized medicine now being part of England. Most of the colonies would have joined the British.

I love to play 'analogy' too. It's my favorite.

If you cannot attack Reid on his MISERABLE RECORD, then money ain’t gonna help.
