Journalists Debated Whether Government Should Shut Down Fox News

A group of liberal journalists used a now-defunct listserv to debate the merits of whether the federal government should forcibly shut down Fox News, according to a report in The Daily Caller.

The online publication earlier reported that the journalists in the private group discussed ways to shield Barack Obama from the Rev. Jeremiah Wright scandal when Obama was a presidential candidate. The latest article showed that several members of Journolist aired complaints about Fox News on the listserv in March of this year and debated how best to rein it in.

Guardian columnist Daniel Davies, who said he was "genuinely scared" of the network, reportedly said "peer pressure" and "self-regulation" were not working.

"In order to have even a semblance of control, you need a tough legal framework," he said.

According to the report, UCLA law professor Jonathan Zasloff urged the federal government to stop the network.

"I hate to open this can of worms, but is there any reason why the FCC couldn't simply pull their broadcasting permit once it expires?" he wrote.

Henceforth I will not use the word “media” to describe these outlets. The word “shills” will do just fine.

Let them babble on... Because apparently they’re too stupid to understand that Fox is not a “broadcaster” but a network, therefore not subject to licensing - of FCC control.
It’s wonderful when ‘journalists’ (et al) put their ignorance on display for all to see...

Fox News is on cable and there is no permit required for cable.

So, stuff it professor, and what’s more you’re not exactly too bright are you?

Interesting how the word ‘journalists’ is used throughout this article, without quotes.

I just cannot grasp why there are some citizens in the United States that just beg to live in tyranny. I just don’t get it. They don’t appreciate freedom.

“Tucker Carlson, a Fox News contributor who started the online Daily Caller, said Wednesday that the listserv commentary as a whole proves the press took sides in the presidential election. “

Way to miss the point, Tucker.

What the listserv commentary shows how today’s “media” are really nothing but a bunch of fascists.

The fact that they took sides did not need to be proven.

The only response to these people is:

Hello, Mr. Enemy of the First Amendment. Meet the Second!

More evidence here that there is a sizable group of liberals extremists who want a Soviet-style one party system in which a democrat-run government controls all sectors of our society. These people are dangerous nuts who want government agencies to silence all opposition to their agenda. It’s amazing that professors at publicly-funded universities are now part of this group of dangerous extremists. It’s also astonishing that these nuts are not happy that only 95% of the MSM is biased in favor of democrats. They want 100% of the MSM to be a propaganda network supporting the democrat party!

What they seem to forget is that a government that would shut down one news source would have no compunction about shutting down others.

The upside, if there is one, is that after the "glorious revolution" the useful idiots are amongst the first to be marched off to the camps, having done their job.

>> They don’t appreciate freedom.

They don’t understand it. Freedom to them is a handout, or special treatment for getting a job. When we talk of freedom as something that allows you to stand or fail on your own merits, they just laugh at us, because only a “suckah” would want to live like that.

Our two cultures are no longer compatible. We have to face that fact soon, or ours will be crushed under the boot of tyranny. Oddly enough, they’ll be crushed under the same boot, and will cry “why is this happening?” when it does. I will actually pity them more when it happens because their childlike selfishness won’t let them see the truth.

They won’t live long enough to be marched off to a camp.

Perhaps there should be a debate on whether or not people should go down to the news studios, enter in, strip them naked, then whip them outside! Vermin!

Which side of the fence?
If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a Republican doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a Democrat doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Democrats demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a Republican reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A Democrat will delete it because he’s “offended”.
