Dem Perriello Down By 23 Points (Polling Bloodbath in R+5 district)

Not a typo.

I've been harping on my 1994-is-roughly-the-median-result for Republicans this cycle theme for most of the year. The latest SurveyUSA poll of Virginia's Fifth Congressional is more than consistent with this theory. SurveyUSA shows Republican Rob Hurt leading Freshman Democrat Tom Perriello by an astonishing 58%-35% margin.

Now, Perriello was something of a surprise winner in 2008, and it was assumed that he'd have a tough race. But his district is "only" R+5, Obama almost carried it, and it is much more heavily Democratic at the local level. There are 41 Democrats in districts with more Republican PVIs. This, of course, begs the question of what their polling looks like. I'm guessing that, generally speaking, it isn't pretty.

Virginia is not friendly territory to Democrats. I've noticed Perriello advertising on a lot of conservative media outlets. I can't wait to see what the numbers are on Jim Moran's district. I bet he is going to be in the race for his political life this year.

How about VA-11? Gerry Connolly seems vulnerable based on VA’s recent voting patterns.

HAHAHAHAAAAA!!!! He’s one I’d LOVE to see go down in flames.

He’s about as liberal as they come, and was just barely elected with 0bama’s coat tails in a fairly conservative rural district in SW/S Central VA, and this year the rat bastard is gonna be all alone on the ballot after supporting crap & tax, the scamulous, and deathcare “reform”. On top of all of that, he’s an arrogant little shit. I wish I lived in his district so I could vote against his ass!

Hopefully, the republicans can run someone to dethrone his ‘neighbor’ Rick Boucher. I don’t see that happening though, unless Boucher is caught in bed with a school boy sometime between now and election day. Even then, he’d probably still win. More pork has come into this area during the past 3 or so years than I can ever recall. If it’s bad enough to get Boucher thrown out of office, it will be an electoral disaster of epic proportion for the dems.

Fimian has a good shot. Northern VA has become a Dem stronghold, especially due to all of the federal employees, lobbyists, and lawyers. That said, Fimian can win if he can get the turnout needed. Connolly is not well-liked and has some real negatives.

Connolly is gone. I don’t think any Democrat is safe in Virginia. McDonnell won all the congressional districts including the 8th.

Yeah, but you wouldnt expect Liberal Loon Perriello to be down by 23. The People's Republic of Albemarle county makes District 5 a distinct shade of purple. And Hurt has competition from an independent tea party candidate.

Perriello has a huge warchest, probably thanks to moveon. If he loses he will have no one to blame but himself and his outrageous voting record.

Perriello is a Democrat in fear of losing. He’s even trying to sound like a fiscal conservative now, esp. at www.augustafreepress.com. However, he is covertly a flaming liberal and a copycat for ideas.

Gerry Connolly was known as the Fairfax Fascist, though he is more a Chicago Red Thug in mannerisms. He is the SOB who needs to go down in defeat so deeply that future archaeologists will never find his political history.

Moran is a lock in Alexandria/Arlington because we have some of the dumbest Democrat liberals and illegal immigration politicians in the area. He was once a nice guy but he turned to the darkside, including the Arabs, as well as mistreated his lovely wife, for reasons unknown.

It is time for him to go but right now only God can arrange that. He could turn out to be a Robert Byrd re longevity.
I prefer that he just go into retirement, in Saudi Arabia.

Goode endorsed Hurt. His word counts for a lot among independents.
