A conservative news-sharing website with plenty of experience in dealing with copyright issues has been sued for copyright infringement after Las Vegas Review-Journal stories allegedly were posted on its site.
Free Republic LLC, James C. Robinson and John Robinson, who are associated with the website www.freerepublic.com in Fresno, Calif., were sued in federal court in Las Vegas on Monday over the postings.

Just a suggestion.
Jim should make it easier for freepers to see a complete list of no, no media, (without having to search for it), for posters rather than freepers wasting time discovering after cutting and pasting and finding that posts are not allowed from a particular media. It’s good that FR catches the majority of the no no posts, but many times freepers post no no media info. in replies to other freepers and it is not caught.

The site also includes a long list of newspapers that have requested the site not post their stories, or post only excerpts and links. The R-J is not on that list.Don't you suspect that there isn't much legal grounds there? You need to send a cease and desist first? Something like that. Jim will clearly demonstrate his compliance with copyright law, since as of the moment he became aware of this complaint, the news site is certainly entered in the list.
Might not be a lot of 'there', there.

Newspaper would never have readers if it weren’t for posting links to them. I almost always read entire articles and often that leads me to reading more at the paper’s website. P!$$ on them.

I used to go to the Los Angeles Times website daily. After they brought the hammer down on FR I have clicked on their site at most once in a year.

It should be noted that on EVERY article on every page at the Las Vegas Review Journal, they have links at the bottom to share the story on Facebook, Twitter, etc.
For example, scroll to the very bottom of the page here:
http://www.lvrj.com/business/nevada-s-jobless-rate-reaches-record-14-2-percent-98737824.html
In other words, their website encourages article sharing. This sounds like entrapment. “here, share this article with your friends.. now... gotcha, we are going to sue you..”

I don’t see where in that LV Sun article where it says where the ‘offending’ Review Journal article(s) is/are specifically located on FR or that they requested for their removal.
To: KeyLargo
But this paper wasn’t on the ‘no-no’ list. I guess it’s post first, sue later.
