NOWY TARG, Poland – With every step toward the gate, Jerzy Bielecki was certain he would be shot.
The day was July 21, 1944. Bielecki was walking in broad daylight down a pathway at Auschwitz, wearing a stolen SS uniform with his Jewish sweetheart Cyla Cybulska by his side.
His knees buckling with fear, he tried to keep a stern bearing on the long stretch of gravel to the sentry post.
The German guard frowned at his forged pass and eyed the two for a period that seemed like an eternity — then uttered the miraculous words: "Ja, danke" — yes, thank you — and let Jerzy and Cyla out of the death camp and into freedom.

Just reading those few lines had my heart stopped.

....I wish the press would do less Holocaust stories and a LOT more stories about the peril that Israel faces today...Islam has made no secret that they would kill every Jew in that country if they could...I have no doubt that they will nuke the Jews just as soon as they can....the only Jewish voice that I hear sounding the warning is my hero David Horowitz...meanwhile influencial Jews in business and entertainment keep touting Obama who loves Islam.
At the end of the story I was thinking about a line from Fiddler on the Roof.
The father asks.....if a bird and fish get married where will they live.
The dilemma continues to this day for some families.
1. She winked at him first time she saw him.
2. Couldn’t wait till he came for her at their designated meeting place after the war.
3. Met a new man on the train and married him.
4. Wanted him to leave his wife and family for her after Hubby #1 died.
5. Refused to correspond after he was faithful to his commitment to his wife.
Sounds like the guy lucked out by not marrying her. He’s lucky he didn’t get killed saving her life. She’d have boo-hoo’d a day or two and taken up with a new guy very shortly.
Really id like to see the same holocaust stories,, with an occaisional line reminding the reader that the deadly mentality is still alive and well in the would of islam.

Of course it’s fiction, but I’ve often wondered about how different life would have turned out for the daughter who married the radical than for the people who made it to America. And did the daughter who married the gentile also decide to leave for America eventually? Had they stayed in Poland . . . .
Wow! I am just such a chicken, I cannot imagine doing something like this. I had butterflies in my stomach just reading about his feat. Such a stand-up guy, too, that he would not leave his wife when they reconnected years later. God bless him.
You know,, it’s tacky to say. But i had similar thoughts. I’ll give her some benefit of the doubt for how she acted in a nazi death camp. Ill even forgive the missed meeting point thing because that was a fact of life in the collapse of WWII Europe.
But the whole “leave your wife and kids” thing,,,, thats a woman he was lucky not to wind up with. She showed no class whatsoever.
