Food bank mistakenly gives out dog food

CLEARWATER, Fla., July 18 (UPI) -- A food bank in Clearwater, Fla., distributed a can labeled as a "superfood" that turned out to be a can of dog food, the recipient said.
On Social Security, retired Air Force veteran Frank Viscido made his weekly trip from his home in Largo to the Religious Community Services Food Bank in Clearwater for free food, The St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported.
Viscido was given the can labeled, "Senior Holistic Superfood" by a volunteer who noticed he wanted products for better health, the newspaper reported Friday.

I seriously doubt this man retired from the Air Force. He is probably retired from his civilian job and is an AF veteran, serving a hitch early in his life like many people do.
My favorite brand of tuna fish in Thailand turned out to be cat food.
Cutting back the whiskers once in awhile is no big deal compared to the declawing - eh?
Well, technically, yes.
Military retirement pay is actually a "retainer", for want of a better word.
The retired military person can expect to be recalled at any time.
Many have been, in fact, particularly during GW1, in the chemical specialties and explosive ordinance specialties.
So, again, technically, if one renders oneself unfit for recall, through imprisonment or similar, then one could lose his retirement pay.
It is governed by United States Code, the exact one which escapes me at this time, but it has been addressed and as far as I know, is still on the books.
I have never heard of anyone actually losing it, though, with the exception of some field grade officers who were convicted after retirement for crimes committed while on active duty.
And I have a slight recall of a senior NCO or several, that were involved in the VN-era Khaki Mafia that did lose their retirement pay, but I think they got convicted before actual retirement.
Conviction before actual retirement will almost always result in the loss of retirement benefits...after actual retirement, not so much, I think.
This is not an official position, just my opinion based on my experience and knowledge.
Depends on when this cat retired, and what rank he held at retirement.
Could be a retired E-5 and he got out in 1980.....or even 1975. Pay was for sh!t back then - half of squat is squat.
But ya, he could also be a O-6 that bailed last year and was scamming the system. I guess if the cat drove off in a $300K motor home, we got his number.
Also... alimony..
If divorced after retirement, federal law has 1/2 of his check going to ex-wife, and that is before the state divorce court tosses in alimony, child support, etc...
Somebody put it in a donation bag, and the volunteers at the food bank didn’t bother reading labels.
Stop that right now! Senior citizens are only allowed to eat dog food during a Republican administration!

I used to buy a box of 5’s dog biscuits to go with my quart of ice cream after school when I was in grammar school in the 1940s.
I won't eat “natural foods”!!
Grow it with chemical fertilizer and pesticides or take it to the dump!
I can attest to this.
Frankly, some dogs and cats eat better than people do. As long as it wasn’t made in China, I doubt very much the food would hurt them.

Ya know, I always told my hubby that we would eat Mighty Dog (it’s pure beef) because the SS system is a bust and we lost out 401K in the last crash. Now, I’m thinking “Holistic Superfood” may be a good alternative.
