Well, if they were women, they’d stone them for this mistake. Guess, since they are men, they’ll just ignore it and face a different direction. Under their law, that only seems fair.

They should have conferred with Beverly Hills architect Paul Murdoch. He was able to get the tricky Qibla angle right in his indescribably odious "Crescent of Embrace" memorial design for Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

So their asses were facing Mecca the whole time - sounds appropriate to me.

After a thorough study with some cosmography and astronomy experts, we learned they've been facing southern Somalia and KenyaCosmography and astronomy experts? You don't got a globe of the world?

They can buy cell phones which point the direction to Mecca. Darn! All those prayers spewed out upon the desert. You need minute-of-angle accuracy to hit Allah.

I'm reminded of a line in Tom Clancy's "Red Storm Rising" describing the mindset of the Islamic terrorists in the beginning of the book - "I have read only one book in my life, the Koran. It is enough."
Well, there you go.

Friends of mine were visiting a Muslim country (Malaysia?) where the Quibla was marked by an arrow on the ceiling. They amused themselves by affixing the little arrow to a blade of the ceiling fan.

Unless you are in the first row you still end up facing the rear end of a towel head named Mohammad.

What a shame, hundreds of years of prayers missed their mark. I guess that’s why the moslems still live in the dark ages

At West Point, we had a guy who was royalty in Bangledash. He had a bad attitude, so people screwed with him...to include telling him the wrong direction to pray to for several months (yes, although we were at the military academy, where alot of map reading and orienteering was going on...and we were distinctly on the west side of the river, he was too dumb to figure it out).
