At a time when the prospects for immigration overhaul seem most dim, supporters have unleashed a secret weapon: a group of influential evangelical Christian leaders.
Normally on the opposite side of political issues backed by the Obama White House, these leaders are aligning with the president to support an overhaul that would include some path to legalization for illegal immigrants already here. They are preaching from pulpits, conducting conference calls with pastors and testifying in Washington as they did last Wednesday.

All aboard! This train is heading for free showers.
Richard Land of SBC. Will keep Obamacare through eternity.
Sorry. Jesus Christ would not advocate breaking the law.
It’s hard to believe Christians want to reward illegal behavior.

I was disappointed to see Land was on here. I’ve seen him on various cable shows and was impressed with him.
Theft is a sin, regardless of how cute and/or desperate the circumstances of the perpetrators...
These "evangelists" want the cash, and the marxists want the votes.
I guess it never occured to the morons at the RNC to advocate for a reversal of Kennedys "immigration Act of 1965", which put white immigrants from europe at a disadvantage.
who are these christian leaders? There have always been democrat christian leaders. So did these individuals vote democrat? NYT trying to mask their affiliation ?
“Sorry. Jesus Christ would not advocate breaking the law.”
I thought he was arrested, tried and put to death for violating laws he felt were wrong, unjust, etc.
He was blameless before both God & man - despite the betrayal, lies, and politics.
Response: Our society is so badly divided that the on going Third World conquest is almost certain to be effectuated.
Just filling the pews and the COLLECTION PLATE! It’s all about money, as usual. It’s always about the money.
He was arrested, tried and put to death because He proclaimed Himself as the Messiah. Was that a lie?
He never did advocate breaking the law.

Correction, He was arrested, tried and put to death because OTHERS proclaimed Him to be the Messiah, and He did not repudiate it. Was that a lie?
He never did advocate breaking the law.
No, he was arrested and tried because He spoke against the religious leaders. They hated Him so they trumped up charges about Him, couldn’t get anybody to have compatible testimony so they asked Him directly if He is God and He said He is. So they charged Him with blasphemy.
But they weren’t able to execute Him for a religious crime so they had to take Him to the Romans. They accused Him of not paying His taxes, subverting the nation, inciting the crowds, and claiming to be a king. (The original Tea Partier, apparently. lol) Pilate knew it was sour grapes on the part of the Jewish leadership so he was going to let Jesus go.
But then the Jewish leadership basically said they would report Pilate to Tiberius (who had just a short time before told Pilate that if he had one more dust-up with the Jews he was history). They said Pilate would be no “friend of Caesar” if he let Jesus go free, since Jesus was supposedly a terrorist enemy of Rome. There was actually an actual group called “Friends of Caesar” which had special rings; the only way out of that gorup was by mandatory suicide.
So basically it was trumped-up charges which Pilate didn’t buy, so the Jews threatened Pilate with extinction if he didn’t give them what they wanted - and that worked.
Sounds exactly like Washington DC.
The real reason He died, of course, is so He could pay the just sentence for all the sin that’s ever been committed on earth, or ever will be committed. That way God can forgive us without ignoring the need for justice.
