Correction, He was arrested, tried and put to death because OTHERS proclaimed Him to be the Messiah, and He did not repudiate it. Was that a lie?
He never did advocate breaking the law.
He did a lot more than fail to deny it. Matthew 16:16-18. Also the transfiguration in Matthew 17. Many others. In Matthew 17, God himself proclaimed “This is my son . . .”
