Gov. Paterson is counting on a Madonna-blessed higher power to lead him out of the mess in Albany.

The lame-duck governor has begun wearing a red string kabbalah bracelet - just like the Material Girl - in an eyebrow-raising bid to deflect ill will.

"It was explained to the governor that the red string is a symbol of protection [that] wards off problems and tribulations," Paterson spokesman Morgan Hook said.

America’s leaders used to be godly men. Now they’re into witchcraft.

Beat me to it. Kabbalah, in its current faddish form, is simply an occult practice whose 20th century followers includes people like Aleister Crowley. Kabbalah, as a popular trend, is nothing but witchcraft.

If a governor had decided to wear a crucifix and told people that he was trying to get right with Jesus, there would be two possible outcomes:

1) No story at all. Who cares about your relationship with Jesus, governor?
2) Negative story: our governor is a crazy extremist Jesus freak.

But witchcraft? Hey -- let's do a puff piece!

it makes perfect sense when you consider this guy’s victim mentality.

The article shows an aide describing to the gov. that this little string can ward off bad stuff?

And he’s always whining how everyone is out to get him. It’s a perfect fit.

Does red string trump pre-stretched hempen rope??

Just askin’

"Gov. Paterson turns to higher power by wearing red string kabbalah..."

I thought at first this said a "red string bikini". I never heard of a "kabbalah".

I'm giving the guy a break considering he's blind and doesn't know how silly that thing is on his wrist.

As for Stevie Wonder, if he could see he'd probably slap his hair dresser and the person who gave him those dumb looking sunglasses.........

This is just sad. The real Kaballah, is a series of books about connecting with God, leading a better life, the reason behind Biblical commandments and understanding that God is the active root of all life. It’s religious and holy.

The “Kaballah Center” and the other new age places that take God right out of it (which makes as much sense as taking God out of the Bible), do a great disservice to it, distorting Godly text into some false spiritual thing that it is not. I know that Chabad has led the fight to expose this and to teach Kaballistic thought as it was meant to be, instead of what these guys do.

Is he aware of it yet?

Has anyone turned him around at the podium yet, back facing the crowd?

Will they make him a goth at some point ?
