Hoping to lift sagging confidence in President Barack Obama's economic leadership, the White House will make the case on Wednesday that his policies are creating jobs and spurring private investment.
A report to be unveiled at 11 a.m. EDT will estimate that Obama's $862 billion economic stimulus package, which passed last year, has saved or created 3 million jobs and is on track to meet its goal of 3.5 million jobs by the end of this year.
The analysis from the White House Council of Economic Advisers will say that government funding of clean energy, economic development, construction projects and other initiatives is spurring "co-investment" by private-sector firms, according to a U.S. official who previewed the report.

Hey Barry, we ain’t buying it.
Who is one to believe? Barry or your own lying eyes?
U.S. Jobs means federal jobs.
Even if they were “saved”, they were actually only prolonged. The next fiscal year should be an interesting time in State and local governments.
Every Thursday, there's another nearly 500,000 "new" people filing for unemployment!
I’m surprised they limited their claim to only 3 million. If Obama coached an NFL team that went 0-16 he’d claim that the losses would have been worse had he not been at the helm.
So, if you call going on Welfare and are no longer counted as “Unemployed” then your job must have been saved! (For someone else that is.)
With Obama’s socialist policies they aren’t able to “create” jobs so they tout the fact they have “saved” jobs, which can’t be proven. What a crock!
How can these fools expect anyone to take ANYTHING they say seriously?
We need to do away with about 78 percent of govt.
Having lived for several decades in a nation governed by professional pols, one grows used to supreme liars in congress and the White House; however, it has to be confessed that Obama is setting new marks in the Lame and Barefaced event to which others, with far less natural talent in prevarication, can only hope to aspire.
This guy’s lies make Clinton look like a Piker.
Well if Barry says so it MUST be true. I’ll just ignore the fact that I haven’t worked in 3 months, there are no jobs in sight and unemployment in the construction industry in CT is hovering around 25%. More Stimulus Please!!!
A study of the rise in the minimum wage by the Coalition for Small Business Development uncovered the fact that 3.7 million jobs were not offered because the rise was harmful to business.
A job not offered was considered to be harmful to the economy because absent the offering of new jobs there can be no growth
It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not. The media will keep repeating it until millions believe it.
The scholastically correct term is “Bull Obama”.
$287,000 per supposed job saved?
The U.S. has lost 2.2 million jobs since President Barack Obama took office. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the total number of jobs nationwide fell from 134.3 million at the end of January to 132.2 million at the end of May.
The unemployment rate now stands at 9.4 percent, up from 7.6 percent at the end of January.
I think my initial measure of success is creating or saving 4 million jobs, said President Obama on February 9.
Monthly job losses reported by the BLS are as follows:
Feb: 651,000
Mar: 663,000
Apr: 539,000
May: 345,000
Total: 2,198,000
President Obama demanded that Congress spend hundreds of billions of dollars to stimulate the economy, said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform. “On Friday, February 13 Congress approved a disgraceful trillion-dollar spending and debt package under the guise of economic stimulus. Since that date at least 1.5 million jobs have been lost in America.
