Obama lays into Bush again on economy
Washington Times ^ | 7/8/2010 | Kara Rowland

Posted on 07/10/2010 1:00:42 PM PDT by Qbert

President Obama on Thursday labeled the recession a result of "a decade of irresponsibility" that he inherited, continuing his strategy of trying to frame this fall's congressional elections as a choice between Bush-era policies and his own.

"For the better part of 10 years, folks faced stagnant incomes, skyrocketing health care costs and tuition bills, and declining economic security," Mr. Obama said in a speech at a Kansas City, Mo., electric vehicle plant. "It was in the middle of this crisis that my administration walked through the door."

Though unemployment still hovers just below 10 percent, Mr. Obama said his policies -- including the $862 billion stimulus bill and small business tax breaks -- have moved the nation "in the right direction" and he touted the fact that the economy has added private-sector jobs for the last six months.

“For the better part of 10 years, folks faced stagnant incomes, skyrocketing health care costs and tuition bills, and declining economic security,”

Actually, he's stretching the truth a little. In the ten years of which he speaks, we've been in a recession during the last two years of the Clintoon regime, and the first two years of his.
During the Bush years, college graduates were being fought over and getting starting salaries that were the highest in history. Unemployment hovered at between 4 and 5 percent, which truthfully is the lowest it's been since 1969.
The Consumer Price Index and median household incomes both refute the tales of woe under the previous administration.
What is irrefutably clear is that misery began with the takeover of Congress by the DemonRATs, and is being accelerated by Obama, and it's not incompetence, it's purely intentional.

I sure hope Lincoln is right.

I love how a president whose inaugural speech promised a “New Era of Responsibility” can’t accept responsibility for anything over a year and a half into his presidency.

Democrats have had Congress since 2006... so if Obama walked into the middle of a crisis, the Democratic Congress sure had hand in crisis making too.

Makes one afraid to ask: How stupid does he think folks are? How forgetful?

Until the Dems took control of Congress in ‘06, the economy was fine, thank you very much.

Has everyone forgotten that the hatred of Bush was generated by 8 years of relentless press attacks, which went viral in ‘04 over Iraq, not the economy? Oh, I guess he doesn’t want to bring up Iraq now that Bush’s/Petraeus’s surge that they Dems decried was successful.

The man sitting in the Oval Office is a clown. And a liar, and just plain stupid, his AA degrees from Columbia and Harvard notwithstanding. He hopes enough Americans are, too.

My old mechanic retired so I took my car to a new mechanic. My new mechanic keeps telling me he can’t fix my car because of my old mechanic. He can tell me the reason my car is broke down but he can’t fix it. I’m looking for a better new mechanic.

You know I am tired of seeing, having to hear about, what this bozo stinking up the WH rambles about every damn day.

This dude is a commie, a muslim, a citizen of a third world country who got where he got by affirmative action. If he had been anything other than a negro no one would have known he ever existed.

So the 5.4% unemployment during President Bush’ term was a figment of our imagination.

And that was after both a mild late term Clinton recession on top of 9/11. I don't recall Bush complaining about Clinton nor moaning about how bad 9/11 was affecting his economic policies. What I remember was the lying, loud mouthed liberals complaining and talking up a recession in Bush years when mostly jobs were fairly plentiful and tax cuts DID help the economy!
