Box left at woman's door explodes (Home owned by oil company exec)

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Local and federal investigators were at a northwest Houston home Friday night where an explosion sent a woman to the hospital.

The woman was opening a package left at her doorstep in the 2100 block of Seamist Court Friday evening. She had found the shoe-sized box in front of her home about a day ago but didn't decide to open it until around 6:30pm Friday.

The woman was transported to Northwest Memorial Hospital with facial injuries that are not life-threatening.

Officials with the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, as well as the Houston Police Department's homicide and bomb squad were at the scene investigating.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the house was targeted, however, Eyewitness News found out the home is owned by an oil company executive.

My grand parents had about an acre+ of garden. They would put their extras on a box out by their driveway/street for neighbors or anyone, who was hungry to take what they wanted. This went on during the depression, WWII and the Korean War.

This is not the 1st we have had this kind of thing. Months ago, several Youths were arrested for doing the same thing in Sugarland or Missouri City.

Let’s see, let’s put our little thinking caps on and see if we can reason through this one.......strange box at door, no packaging/mailing labels on it, I’m not expecting a package, our home is owned by an oil company exec (and/or we are an oil company exec), there’s been a horrendous oil spill in LA that’s poisoning the entire Gulf......hmmmm......maybe instead of opening this myself, I should call the cops and let them earn their pay or bring in one of those robot thingies my tax dollars paid for to inspect this box.......

If she had thought it was plants that she ordered why would she have waited days/weeks to open it? The plants would have been dead. I can't see any other reason than she was suspicious of what the package contained. Anthrax maybe? I hope she decides to talk about I bet she doesn't.

Only until BP is tired of being scapegoated. I remember in Chinese history that China used to be a huge nation of shopkeepers. I think personally that their policy of using free hookers and free booze is going to be very, very popular with businessmen and companies.
