The man who allegedly killed two police officers during a traffic stop -- and has evaded authorities for days -- is also wanted in connection with three other killings, police said today.
Law enforcement officers wearing body armor and carrying assault rifles were in the third day of a manhunt for 24-year-old Dontae Rashawn Morris.
At a news conference Thursday, Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor called Morris "a cold-blooded killer." But police declined to release details on the other slayings linked to him.
In one case, WTVT of Tampa reported 21-year-old Derek Anderson was shot and killed outside his family's apartment on May 18 by someone who tried to steal his backpack.
Investigators were already trying to determine how Morris was freed from prison in April when he had an outstanding warrant for allegedly writing bad checks in Jacksonville.
The Department of Corrections says the agency notified the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office that Morris was getting released and they needed to pick him up.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page Wednesday night, Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford said his office was looking into the matter to see if a clerk missed it.
During the traffic stop Tuesday, Morris was a passenger in a red Toyota driven by Cortnee Brantley, 21, who drove away after Morris fatally shot officers David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab.
Curtis was originally from Mobile, Ala. Detectives found Brantley in an apartment complex Tuesday, questioned her for seven hours and then released her.
Morris is considered to be armed and dangerous.
There is a $100,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
Police are also seeking Morris' brother, 21-year-old Dwayne Daniel Callaway.
He was wanted on two counts of violating probation on a domestic battery charge, and detectives want to question him about his brother

No mystery there.
Our courthouses are filled with court jesters and dress-up clowns masquerading as judges ... like Elena Kagan.
The last dress-up clown “judge” that saw this murdering monster simply let him go. Warrant, schmarrant ...
Another Amish mass murderer...
It’s “Bonnie and Clyde time” for this a-hole when they find him....

I don't understand this part. Shouldn't she have been arrested as an accessory to a double-murder if she was the driver??
Black on white crime? Holder will drop the charges. The facts and the law just don’t support prosecution.
They RELEASED her? What for? Was she not drving the car is she not an accomplice or at least an accessory? WTF?
I can't wait to see how many pieces of Mr. Morris will be able to show up for an arraignment.
It's pretty obvious to all that he's a dead duck, in just a matter of time. This makes him even more dangerous while he's running loose.
Bait.
“AKA: “Qwalo” ??? Is that Swedish for “Obama”?
Nope. That’s a Swiss name if ever I heard one.
Dontae and Rashawn -- two names that are well on the way to pushing "Wayne" from the top of the list of crime-inducing monikers.
They released her?
