President Barack Obama hopes to rally new momentum behind the push for an immigration overhaul by explaining why he thinks a comprehensive approach is the only way to fix what he and others say is a system badly in need of repair.
Obama was laying out his rationale in a speech Thursday, his first as president on the issue.
Obama wasn't expected to announce any new proposals or policy changes. But feeling pressure from a range of supporters, he was aiming to jump-start the effort he had promised to make a priority in his first year and which advocates had hoped would be completed by now.

Not a bad idea but the costs would be astronomical. Not because it costs that much to build a wall, but because deep-pocket organizations would file suit over ever yard of fence, plus Obama would have his “Justice Department” go after you as well. He's going to try to break the State of Arizona in this way. Line up your pro bono legal help first to have a chance.

I like the idea. But you can see how Gov Jindal wanted to build sand berms to protect the Louisiana environment from Gulf oil — and the federal government just wouldn’t allow it. Building a wall would be great, but the feds won’t allow it to happen.
To: Shqipo
“Will he also demand all the oil be cleaned out of the Gulf before pluggin the Damn hole?”
Brilliant analogy.

Isn't it cute that he wants immediate amnesty? Could be they might need the votes in about 5 months, huh?
EVERYONE has said that you should "stop the leak" (close the borders) before you attempt anything to "fix" immigration. If you declare amnesty with the borders still open, two things will happen:
(1) obama won't keep his word, the borders will never be closed, and;
(2) The rest of the mexicans - seeing all the "instant amnesty" going on, will come across by the millions.
We defeated Bush and McAmnesty by public outcry, and we need to do it tenfold for our "illegal alien" president.
THIS has GOT to stop...somewhere.

This is why when someone calls me a Conservative I say Thank you. When I call them a Liberal, they make all kinds of excuses. Like everything else in their lives, they were trained in school to lie about who they really are.

ok... so what if we purchased the land... on the mexican side? of course, you wouldn’t tell them what it’s for or the actual owners, as you’d buy it through shell companies. you could tell them you might run irrigation pipes through the area... which might be accurate...
2,000 miles of border
200 feet deep.
26.4 acres per mile.
52,800 acres. assuming average cost under $1000/acre... $52m for the land in mexico.
almost seems like a small number considering the numbers they through around these days.

The importance for amnesty to be granted to the
criminals poor undocumented immigrants who wish to become
sponges of the welfare system good wholesome American citizens cannot be overstated. These people only wish to become productive citizens who will
cheat the system do the work that Americans won't do.
We welcome these Democrat voters new American citizens.
Signed,
Obama (HMFWIC)

BTW, will the gov’t jobs numbers go up re: processing and does it include illegals from terror countries?
I think it does.

Obama is easy to understand. He is a true believer of leftist ideology. He accepts it lock stock and barrel. Everything he says and does is right out of the radical leftist playbook.

The idiot-in-chief is speaking now. I had to turn down the volume so that I don’t start a major cuss-a-thon. I can’t stand the grating stupidity of his voice, let alone the illogical blather that he recites off of the telepromptor.
On a side note, I see that the DOW is down 130 points or so right now. If old conventions hold true, it will drop for the duration of his speech.
