Rand Paul Wont Say How Old the Earth Is

From PageOneKentucky.com, heres a video of GOP candidate Rand Paul addressing a convention of Christian homeschoolers, and dodging a question about the age of the Earth.
The questions asked by the homeschoolers in the video: 1) are you a Christian, 2) how old is the Earth, and 3) will you let the UN take our children. Yep, really. And these are the teachers asking these questions. Theyre raising a generation of kids who are ignorant anti-science fanatics, afraid that the United Nations is going to come and kidnap them. Good grief.
Did he dodge the question because hes a creationist and he knows that he shouldnt reveal it for political reasons, or because hes not a creationist and he knows he shouldnt reveal it for political reasons? Either way, this is very sleazy behavior.
My opinion: I think he probably is a creationist, just like his father Ron Paul, because his world view matches the creationist world view in every respect.
I didn’t realize that that was the goal of religion - to “attract” people. I guess that’s the reason that there are so many churches falling for the “emergent” philosophies. They’ve fallen for the idea that they are to “attract” people.
Nope, Truth is divisive. Always will be.
Hallelujah! Preach it again, Brother Bear!
Does it really matter if Paul thinks the Earth was made 6000 year ago or 4.5 billion years ago?
After all, when was “in the beginning”? Can anyone prove it beyond a doubt or does the answer require some faith in the unseen and unknown?
If you believe that you should not "attract" people to your beliefs then why criticize them for theirs? What is the point?
There's numerous problems with various forms of radiometric dating. I don't intend to discuss them at this time.
I'm just glad to see Rand Paul on my side. It's as much of a "Go, Team, Rah Rah!!" moment for me as anything else.
As long as we can separate Schooling and State, Evolutionism will die on the vine. There's a lot more Creationists and Theistic Evolutionists than there are Atheistic Evolutionists in these United States, and we breed more children. Without the massive Subsidy that Evolutionism receives from Government School support, it will be wiped out by simple demographics in a few generations.
But I'm not going to be offended if Rand Paul refuses to repudiate my own beliefs, y'know?
Jesus also knew those people were sworn enemies, devil’s children, and not just those who disagreed with him on an issue of ancient history.
Maybe Paul doesn’t know how old the earth is.
It’s not up to us to “criticize”. It is up to us to quote the truth. This truth is written on your heart and revealed in creation (Rom 2:14), so that “men are without excuse” (Rom 1:20). Your conscience can then bear witness and accuse or defend you (Rom 2:15).
“Religions” that affirm that an individual is a “good person” may be “attractive” to that person, but it is doing a huge disservice by affirming a lie and leaving them thrashing out there trying to justify themselves through “works”, when such works amount to nothing in the realm of salvation.
No one really does - we weren’t there.
There is only one recorded history of what happened by Someone Who was there.
Is it even remotely possible that we do not understand Genesis as well as we think we do?
After all, it deals with some very complex issues that were unknown to the ancient men and had to be communicated through those men.
If they’d understood physics and biology better they might have written it differently. But they didn’t.
Sorry, maybe I was too cryptic.
Name calling started this whole thing. you asked if it was what jesus would do...a couple folks have mentioned that he did call people names.
you took that as them calling you an evil viper. I didn’t think so, and I just pointed that out - they were not calling you that name, just answering your WWJD question...
somehow, you took that as jesus giving permission to call people names. again, not sure how/why...then I see someone else said it was permission....I guess I should just get out of the way.
(Shrugs). As I said — I respect, though disagree with, Old-Earth Creationists. But I’m not going to be offended if Rand Paul refuses to repudiate my own beliefs, y’know?
In your last paragraph, you mention “Theistic Evolutionists”, but then apparently lump all evolutionists together in your subsequent sentence. I did not realize that Theistic Evolutionists are getting a subsidy...could you clarify?
Finally, simple demographics will wipe out evolutionists in a few generations. Why have simple demographics not already wiped out evolutionists? More importantly, why did evolutionists even get a foothold on life? 1,000 years ago nearly everyone was a young earth creationist.
I very rarely come on "religion" threads because of the utter closed mindedness of some of the fundamentalists. This thread is in "news/activism" so I clicked on it and feel free to respond.
Proselytizing is a double edged sword. If done right it can work however most of the people on these threads think the it means demeaning, degrading and insulting anyone who has any questions or even disagrees with them in the slightest.
I count 8 times in Genesis 1 where the words “after their kind” were used. That’s not an accident. Ancient man understood that phrase, as do we, even with differing levels of understanding of biology.
Now THAT'S funny...
(Shrugs). I see no need to do so.
It's less productive to argue with hardened Evolution-Cultists, than to simply eliminate the Subsidy that they receive from Government Schooling, and out-breed them.

Most Americans believe that Creationism should be taught in schools, either as the sole explanation for life on earth, or as an alternative explanation.
The Government Schools do not allow this.
Therefore, Government Schooling should be abolished. It's a system based on Theft, anyway.
Finally, simple demographics will wipe out evolutionists in a few generations. Why have simple demographics not already wiped out evolutionists? More importantly, why did evolutionists even get a foothold on life? 1,000 years ago nearly everyone was a young earth creationist.
Not everyone. There were all kinds of Pagan false religions in existence. Evolutionism is just the latest.
Creationists don’t know how old the world is, either.
Some might believe this or that, but they don’t know.
