As expected, Mayor Daley and Chicago's City Council are circling the wagons to defend against an unfavorable decision by the Supreme Court concerning the city's gun ban.

Daley said the city would have in place a new ordinance aimed at making it difficult to purchase and own a gun in Chicago.

"We'll publicly propose a new ordinance very soon," Daley said at an afternoon press conference concerning the gun ban.

"As a city we must continue to stand up ..and fight for a ban on assault weapons .. as well as a crackdown on gun shops," Daley said. "We are a country of laws not a nation of guns."

As always, Daley and the rest of these gangsters are always happy to spend countless taxpayer dollars to promote their corrupt agenda.

The Chicago City Council is fast-tracking legislation to require registered handgun owners to buy very expensive liability insurance-up to $1,000 by some estimates.

I wonder if it could be argued that this violates the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment?

Proving once again, that liberals, like the true socialists they are, are bullies. Under different circumstances they would have no problem using ruthless force to enact their dictates. Think Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, etc.

He is a hate monger. He’s attempting to violate the Civil Rights of the citizens of Chicago. Let the lawsuits against him personally begin!!!!

The people of Chicago keep re-electing this guy. (Of course, in Chicago there's always the other possibility: there's a whole lot of ballot box stuffing going on, or the counting is not Kosher.) Whatever--this is a small step for the law abiding citizens of Chicago. It at least gives them some more ammo (pun intended) to fight the mafia-like bastids with.

Meanwhile, nothing has changed for the criminals. They will continue to make Chicago the nation's most dangerous city.

Of course he is planning on new ordinances. Handgun ownership won’t be outlawed, but he will make conditions for ownership so troublesome and so expensive that few will bother.

"We are a country of laws not a nation of guns."

Yes, and those anti-gun laws are obeyed to the letter and the spirit by the criminals, so you're right, of course.

Even we 2A people in IL recognize that the Daley admin saved Chicago from going Detroit. When he was elected in 1989 Chicago was about to have white flight 2, to leave the city in the hands of the drug gang paid black politicians.

And then Daley finds U.S. Marshals on his doorstep to place him under arrest for contempt of court.

Nope. It's the FBI who has jurisdiction for violations of the federal civil rights statutes. See following.

And as several pro-Klan Sheriffs and other corrupt local officials have learned, there's no practical Statute of Limitations for federal prosecutions for those offenses. Some have taken place some forty years after the predicate act.

Well Mayor you forgot we do have an Amendment 2.

The problem being in the MacDonald decision the court left open the legality of 'reasonable restrictions' on firearm ownership without defining what those reasonable restrictions were. Count on Daley and his allies to test the limits on that as soon as possible. This could be working its way through the courts again and again for decades.

Indeed, but remember that a continuing pattern of criminal activity constitutes racketeering, which can be addressed under anti-racketeering RICO actions against corporations, including incorporated cities. And that both triple-amount punitive damages and 1.5 times the usual attorney's fees apply in such cases, a pretty healthy amount when you consider that such fees commonly begin at $495.00/hour.

And, of course, civil lawsuits are not the only legal remedy for such criminal conduct.

Title 18 United States Code, U.S. Criminal Code, Part I, Chapter 13, §ection 241.
Conspiracy against rights

If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same;

or

If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured—

They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death

When the revolution starts, scum like Daley need to be some of the first ones rounded up. How these criminal politicians continue to have the power they do is beyond me.

If that were really true then liberals wouldn’t feel that the Constitution is outdated and can be ignored. Guns are needed to make this country law abiding.

Give the people of Chicago their constitutional right!

Do the liberals now think they have the power to tell us what rights we have?

Chicago has had its gun control laws for a long time. Didn’t I just read that some people in that city want to call in the military to try and stop the open warfare between the gangs?

People are being shot to death all of the time in that miserable sewer of a city. Yet Daley wants laws that prohibit honest citizens in Chicago from owning firearms. That seems insane. Unless Daley thinks there are no law abiding citizens in his town.

We know about Chicago politicians and how crooked they are, but I always assumed there were some regular folks there too. Maybe Daley knows more about the people in his town than I do. ???
