The War Between Obama and McChrystal Is Over — Obama Lost
Pajamas Media ^ | June 24, 2010 | Dan Miller

Posted on 06/24/2010 5:44:14 AM PDT by DanMiller

Following a thirty minute meeting with President Obama, General McChrystal departed the White House “before Obama convened a regularly scheduled war planning meeting there.” That was a pretty good indication of what was to come. An announcement that General McChrystal had been relieved of his command by President Obama was made later on June 23. General McChrystal is to be replaced by General Petraeus.

He's not going to speak out. He will get himself a nice, plush job in the defense industry and our men and women will continue dying while waiting for their new General to get things going.

The guy is not a hero.

The reason I ask is because Rolling Stone regularly features overly-paranoid articles concerning the military. Military as thugs - rapists - murderers. Yes! They may even turn on us someday! American soldiers may even become genocidal maniacs! I cannot believe a military guy would ever entertain the idea of giving one of these morons 1 millisecond of his time. He must’ve never read it either.

I have not read the interview report. According to my wife who has been following this McChrystal and his staff were stranded in Europe during the volcano eruption stuff. They happened to be at the same hotel/tavern/whatever as the reporter for the Rolling Stone. Most of the statements which were about the empty suits in Washington came from McChrystal's staff, not him. She says one minor statement was actually accredited to McChrystal.

We are of the opinion that McChrystal saw an opportunity to get out of Afghanistan before it completely implodes and jumped at it. He knew the MSM and the paranoia in Washington would blow this thing all out of reason. More power to him.

Remember Truman was a liberal and Reagan was a liberal. Fortunately Truman was a smart liberal and Reagan had the intelligence to change.

Your analogy fails because your premise is faulty.

Reagan was a Democrat once upon a time, but he was never a liberal. In that once upon a time there was a difference.

McChrystal is, was, and likely ever shall be a liberal. That he is a warrior who is also a leftist constitutes a curious aberration. Yes, he could change, but suggesting that he could change like Reagan changed is highly unlikely (to nigh on to impossible)

So you believe he was fooled into believing a community organizer, without any experience running anything but his mouth, was capable of commanding the military in the time of two wars?

You're right he's not stupid, he's an idiot.

Good riddance to him.

“We are of the opinion that McChrystal saw an opportunity to get out of Afghanistan before it completely implodes and jumped at it.”

My thoughts exactly. With the current ROE it is a no win situation for our troops. They are just “IED magnets” as someone put it the other day. If the Russians could not win there with their brutal tactics, there is no way that it will turn out well.

It is a lawless, tribal country with no desire for a central government. “Nation Building” is hopeless.

Let's not pin hopes on the General going on TV and telling all the dirt any time soon.

As long as he's in the service he will maintain military honor and not bad-mouth Obama or his ambassadors or policies or anything. Remember, his life blood is the army. He's West Point and I believe his father was a general, also.

If and when he retires, all bets are off.

Indeed.

I would broaden that thought to say that there is really no excuse for anyone having been fooled by Obama, empty messages of “hope” and “change” notwithstanding.

To even the casual observer of current events, his off the charts liberalism was clear via his Congressional voting record and his anti-American associations.

No. These people knew what they were voting for.

I agree with you about the political cover - the converts are more interesting than the ones who didn’t buy zero’s crap from day one.

Exactly. All military officers know this. Sooooo, what is the real reason McChrystal did what he did?

I think he could see the futility of the Afghan plan and didn’t want the blame and wants to run for office as a Dem, and/or write a profitable book.

“I wonder if - as many highpowered liberals do - he assumed his liberalism would protect him from being the anal exam that media libs give to other members of the military?”

The more I look at how this whole thing went down, I believe you might be correct.

But, I also believe this could have been orchestrated by the White House! Think about it; Obamao needs to look strong, because the oil spill is simply kicking HIS a$$, so what is the easiest, quickest way to look strong (to your liberal, nutjob base voters)? Throttle the military!

Reading that article does not show anything that was worth firing General McChrystal. His aides - absolutely! They said things that were simply insubordinate, but McChrystal did not say anything that was worth a firing.

This also gives the WH a “out” when we loose this war! Well, we were doing great but then we had to change horses in the middle and THAT is what caused our failure to complete our objectives!

“To win this war, America, and its generals, need to be led by someone who really wants to win the war. Someone who believes his country is great, and extraordinary, and deserves to win its wars. “

This, in my opinion, is the essence of the problem. Obama is of the school of thought that considers America undeserving of winning its wars.

So - they wind up with Petraeus?

The guy Obama grilled and sneered at in 2007?
And Hillary accused of being a liar?
And moveon declared Gen. Betray-Us?

This really is rich isn’t it?

So they declared the Iraq war lost. They then demonized Petraeus for the surge. When he declared it was working - they set out to destroy him.
When it became clear it worked - they then tried to take credit for it.

And now he’s become “Obama’s” general?

This just might start to get interesting.

So the hero won. I like that kind of thinking. I was on an opposite page and furious with uhbama and his creepy attitude towards our military in general and McChrystal in particular until reading this article.

THis is one heck of an interesting thread. Good back and forth and discussion. Reminds me of some the terrific threads we ran while uhbama and hitlery were battling it out in the public arena.

aaahh...don’t forget Hillary’s grilling of Petraeus right?

Didn’t she accuse him of being a liar?

Wasn’t the phrase “willing suspension of belief?”

Has she ever apologized for that?

I think not.

Do you wonder if things are going to be a little.....AWKWARD at those meetings?

That he is a warrior who is also a leftist constitutes a curious aberration.

Militaries are structured as communist states so someone with a military disposition could fit right in communism and thrive. The main driver of our military disliking leftists is that leftists want to gut the military to fund socialist welfare spending, that and the compete lack of honor, bravery, family values, ability to operate a weapon, and work ethic among leftists.

It does get interesting... after McChrystal got ‘fired,’ he went on to take part in an initiative called “Defeat Disinfo” to use AI information warfare on American citizens:

Dems deploying DARPA-funded AI-driven information warfare tool to target pro-Trump accounts

An anti-Trump Democratic-aligned political action committee advised by retired Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal is planning to deploy an information warfare tool that received initial funding from DARPA, the Pentagon’s secretive research arm — transforming technology originally envisioned as a way to fight ISIS propaganda into a campaign platform to benefit Joe Biden.

The Washington Post first reported that the initiative, called Defeat Disinfo, will utilize “artificial intelligence and network analysis to map discussion of the president’s claims on social media,” and then attempt to “intervene” by “identifying the most popular counter-narratives and boosting them through a network of more than 3.4 million influencers across the country — in some cases paying users with large followings to take sides against the president.”

Social media guru Curtis Hougland is heading up Defeat Disinfo, and he received the funding from DARPA when his program was “part of an effort to combat extremism overseas.” He explained in an interview with the Post that he was unhappy that top social media accounts often supported Trump, and had effectively defended the president in recent days from claims that he had suggested Americans inject themselves with disinfectant.
