Following a thirty minute meeting with President Obama, General McChrystal departed the White House before Obama convened a regularly scheduled war planning meeting there. That was a pretty good indication of what was to come. An announcement that General McChrystal had been relieved of his command by President Obama was made later on June 23. General McChrystal is to be replaced by General Petraeus.

I agree. You can only go for so long in a situation like he was in. Obummer can’t take away his military designations or his honor. We know who the hero is and nothing can change that!
I can’t get over him saying he voted for Obama. I thought he was supposed to be smart?
This means he’s available for the 2nd Continental Army.
It does appear McChrystal has a glaring weakness.
He is a liberal.
He is a liberal who felt comfortable bringing along a Rolling Stone reporter, and granting that reporter from that RAG a whole lot of access.
I wonder if - as many highpowered liberals do - he assumed his liberalism would protect him from being the anal exam that media libs give to other members of the military?
should read “being subjected to the anal exam”
Yes he is stupid. He voted for Obama and that puts him in the idiot category with everyone else.
If he thought Obama was up to the task of running a 7/11, much less the country, then he was delusional at best and a fool at worst.
When does he get the contract with FNC?
Well, he could always apply for the job of football coach at West Point.
General McChrystal should have presented his grievances to President Obama directly and in no uncertain terms. If President Obama refused to remedy General McChrystal’s grievances, the General should have resigned and held a press conference to explain to the public his grievances and the reason for his resignation.
If he walks away and quits the fight then he loses my respect, regardless of what else he might do.
SPOT ON! What we are seeing is an attempted ressurection of his military and special ops victories to cover up the fact that he had an evaluative bent that overexposed anything that he had done before. The fact that he voted for Obama followed by his willing and “faithful execution” of the ROE’s that has gotten many of our best KIA needlessly.
It only takes one OS to erase a boat load of “attaboys”. In his case, he wiped out an entire fleet of boatloads. It is nothing more than the same crap we went through during VietNam.
So what did his “faithful execution” of Obama’s orders get him? Being the sacrifical lamb to bring the pResident up in the polls by the MSM equating him with the the McClellan and MacAurthur scenarios.
Isn’t it also an irony that all three were “macs”? Maybe just one more “mac” needs to lose his current position.
Maybe McChrystal knows McCain from dealing with him in Congress.
I disagree with part of your statement(s). Maybe he is a liberal but I also think he is a smart and crafty liberal. I believe he realized that any statements he made to the "standard" MSM would be doctored up, changed, edited, mis-quoted and then would be further botched up in the re-reporting of them. By going to a media such as Rolling Stones he bypasses the NYT, WSJ, LA Times, mindset. He ensured his message would get out.
I also believe he did the interview with the precise goal of being dropped from the Afghan mess. It has become obvious that the White House has no idea on how to run a war and General McChrystal did not want to be pegged as the reason the strategy failed. He is smart enough to know that he would become the scapegoat for the failing policies of the great Zero. I admire him for doing what needed to be done. He has saved his reputation and I think enhanced it (even if he is a liberal). Remember Truman was a liberal and Reagan was a liberal. Fortunately Truman was a smart liberal and Reagan had the intelligence to change.
It may be that he thought o was better than mac. If mac had not chosen Sarah, I am not sure how I would have voted. I did not like any of the choices. I am still not convinced mac or helary would have been any better. CONGRESS is too lib.
I'm not happy about him banning FOX news from the troops.
I remember hearing this a while ago and wondered then what sort of man was in charge.
how often have you read Rolling Stone magazine?
Yeah, my thoughts exactly. And,...He banned Fox News?
If he did go into politics, it would be on the side of the socialists/Marxists? Would conservatives want him? I surely wouldn't.
