I can’t figure out why McChrystal agreed to the Rolling Stone interview, either. Could Obama have ordered him to do interviews to help sell the war to the Left?

I wonder, did McChrystal resign completely from the Army or is he just out of Afghanistan and will be given some desk job or new post? Is he out totally?

Replacing someone who was your subordinate is generally considered a demotion. Unless it's an "additional duty" and he keeps CENTCOM as well.
I was hoping Petraeus would step up to the mike and decline the "honor".
All the gubmint “hearings” are just a version of commie style “showtrials” to provide a grandstand for all the egotistical, narcissitic blowhards and small time wennies in the House and Senate to try and sound like they know or care about something they know nothing about.
Such pompous baloney and such a waste of time and our money.
It’s not McChrystal’s call on whether or not he gets out of service. At this point, he’s in, and, as a general, they can keep him there indefinitely. My guess is that they will. That way they can muzzle him.

I think this moves will keep Petreus busy in Afghanistan, so he cannot run against Obama in 2012. Also, I think Petreus might just be the new fall guy. Remember all his success in Iraq? Obama might be able to throw all that out the window.
It's not what BO said, and you don't need Senate confirmation for that sort of thing. I'm not sure it's needed for an assignment below unified and specified command leve. Plus the service chiefs.
