(Vanity) General McChrystal is the proverbial Canary in the Obama Admins Afghanistan coal mine.

Like McChrystal or not, agree or disagree with him or not. Regardless of whether he resigns or is fired or not. Outrahe over the disrespect shown...the fact that it was shown, should not be overshadowed by the mere ourage that it was, and all who intend to learn from this, better realise that no matter what happens to McChryistal, this is a "Seldon Momement", and McChristal is the provernial Canary in the Obama Afghan coal mine. And the dirty deep hole is full of CYA 'Rats.

The unspoken question in the back of the mind of the media and political types is:

What if McCrystal is right?

What is the name of obamma military adviser during his campaign? Was it Gen Wesley Clark, the jerk from Kosovo, as per his British peer at the time? Could he be elevated to fill this position?

In 1951 Harry Truman fired MacArthur. We all know how that turned out for Korea. We are still in a state of war with North Korea, and millions have died because Truman was not willing to do what was necessary to win.

It is of couse much more complicated then that, but the bottom line was a decision was made to fight a limited war. Is the world safer today because of that decision?

It would seem that once again we are in a situation where we are asking our military to fight a limited war because of polictical considerations.

You would have thought we have learned a lesson from Korea and Viet Nam. Either fight to win, or just come home.

McCrystal won’t be the first General to get “sacked” for being outspoken. He isn’t going to be around much longer. Too bad.

That’s the point I am trying to point out. This is not about a military coup, or a military officer seeking political office, or refusal to obey orders, or carrying out military actions specifically proscribed by the POTUS. So in fact, it is *not* a true Truman vs McCarthur situation. This is about a military commander who gas lost faith with his civilian leadership, their competence, veracity, and their integrity.

Of course he's speaking truth. We have a CIC who has no will to win in Afghanistan.

Sadly, this general will apologize & be reassigned...and the troops will be faced when a lesser leader. After all, each decision this president makes seems to lead to stealing, destroying, or killing.

When der Fuhrer 0bama took MONTHS to decide to give McChrystal additional troops, and then only a portion of what was requested, you had to know that he and his regime are not fully committed to the effort. He can’t vote “present” anymore.

If the first thing that came out of McChrystal's mouth when he met Obama was that he claimed he voted for him (if true or not), he's a politician just like Obama.

Live with politicians, die with politicians.

I feel awful for the young men and women who are risking their lives and limbs in Afghanistan and Iraq right now.

Sorry. McChrystal should have had the courage to resign.

Instead he ran his mouth and O must fire him.

Carl von Clausewitz: "war is an expression of politics by other means"
How can an army fight to win when winning is not politically correct? We won WWII because the country rallied. Quit Vietnam because the country bought into the lefts MSM we're losing and shouldn't be there propaganda. This president is doing absolutely nothing to sell the need for continued military action in Afganistan so it is he, not McCrystal et al that will lose it.

Maybe, maybe not. But it doesn’t underlie the circumstances that brought it about. The real time situation in Afghanistan.

In today’s U.S. military, you don’t attain general rank unless you’re a politician.

Oh please do!....A mouthy ex-general already outspoken with his troops who supposedly voted for Obama(on another thread)....out under the military and ready for the airways.....Hmmmm I wonder if he will be fired or put on a very tight leash... somehow firing him seems riskier for this administration.
