True free market captialists have no problem with BP going bankrupt.

They should not be rewarded for their negligence, mismanagment and extraordinary risk-taking.

But while the left is busy with BP and hailing the moratorium on off-shore drilling, the Obama administration’s odious brand of ‘crony capitalism’ is alive and well.

The President said after his meetings with BP execs, “BP is a strong and viable company and it is in all of our best interests to see that it remain so.”

In light of the revelations in the report above why would Obama ever say such a thing?

Could it be that several insider fatcats and corporate tools like John and Tony Podesta have enriched themselves greatly from their connections to BP?

Just think of the money BP will have to spend on PR campaigns to salvage it’s image and the lobbyting it still needs to do to get it’s ‘cap and trade’ legislation passed.

*** Reuters is reporting that Brazil stands to benefit from the BP oil spill catastrophe as the US moratorium makes more rigs available for other countries. ***

Even as an ecological catastrophe makes the future of U.S. offshore drilling less certain, Brazil is plowing ahead with a $220 billion five-year plan to tap oil fields even deeper than BP’s ill-fated Gulf well.

Thirty-five rigs are now idle in the Gulf and more US jobs are being lost.

Recently, a $2b loan is being made by the Export-Import Bank specifically to finance purchase by Petrobras of U.S.-made oilfield equipment and services.

Uber-capitalist and prominent Dem backer George Soros is a major investor in Petrobras.

The left is sooo easily distracted and whipped up into an anti-BP frenzy that it cannot see the high stakes cronyism, corrupt wheeling and dealing that serves to benefit Obama’s political cabal.

Obama has no desire to nationalize the oil industry, he simply wants to exploit it for the benefit of those who “brought him to the dance.”

Glenn’s wrong on several things.

He did just say that the guys in theatre are better than he is, and that the military will listen to the American people.

0bama el al want our guys to fight with styrofoam bullets and throw themselves on their swords to receive medals. I.e, the administration’s policies want our guys to die.

DoD has a Soros plant and moslem infiltrators.

Someone on the show just said we’re ‘days’ and then dropped the statement.

If you go look at icasualties.org, you see the casualties in Iraq have dropped off, but Afghanistan have continuously increased.

Here’s hoping business is VERY GOOD, guys & gals.

One thing would end the fighting: turn the place to green glass. If ROE are the proximate cause of our men & women dying, the ROE are worthless.

I think McChrystal’s standing up to the WH, just as Larkin is. They & their men’s lives are on the line. Time for all of us to get our boots on.

Changes Proposed to Benefit State’s Oil Giant in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO — The Brazilian government proposed changes to existing laws on Monday to assign the primary role of developing key deep-sea oil reserves to the state-run energy giant, Petrobras, at the expense of foreign rivals.

The proposal, which needs congressional approval, would confine foreign companies to mostly subservient roles to Petrobras and a new state-owned oil company still to be created.

Brazil currently awards exploration and production concessions through bidding, which is open to foreign companies.

While existing concessions in the “pre-salt” area would be maintained, the remaining 72 percent of the subsalt acreage still to be explored, more than 41,000 square miles, would be left in government hands, to be developed by Petrobras, said the presidential chief of staff, Dilma Rousseff.

Production-sharing contracts would be granted to the companies offering the Brazilian government the largest portion of the profits.

(The question remains why are American taxpayers footing the bill for a competitor? Or guaranteeing loans for a COMPETITOR? Obama knows that once these jobs vanish they’re not coming back. And who stands to profit? George Soros and other Obama cronies. “Crony capitalism” is fast becoming the phrase which best describes the Obama presidency.)

... Consider the following instance of “necessary” and officially sanctioned lying.
Military members involved in highly sensitive, classified activities may be given a cover story that conceals the true nature of their work and told to adhere to it. If it’s legal to direct a member to disseminate a cover story--lie--in the interests of national security, is it also legal to order an officer to lie in the scenario’s circumstances?

The military oath, Constitution, and commissioning letter combine to form the legal basis of commitment and loyalty for military members. From these it is clear the superior loyalty should be expressed in protecting the values reflected in the Constitution. Additionally, the Uniformed Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and Law of Armed Conflict contain legal considerations of which an officer should be cognizant. Sometimes, though, as in the scenario above, an officer is torn between two legitimate loyalties—the Army colonel legally owes loyalty to the Army Chief of Staff and President, but he also owes loyalty to the people (as represented by their elected members).

... The Air Force doesn’t mention the importance of loyalty at all in the publication that discusses its core values. It does, however, strongly advocate “faith in the system”:

To lose faith in the system is to adopt the view that you know better than those above you in the chain of command what should or should not be done. In other words, to lose faith in the system is to place self before service. Leaders can be very influential in this regard: if a leader resists the temptation to doubt “the system”, [sic] then subordinates may follow suit.

The implication is that an officer owes his or her ultimate loyalty to the system (the Service), rather than to the country or transcendent values. Officers are taught from the moment they first put on a uniform that loyalty to teammates is inviolable.

...COL (XXXXX) needs to tell the truth. Although he’s presented with two legitimate claims on his loyalty—loyalty to the Army and President versus loyalty to the Congress and the Constitution—expressing his loyalty to the former would require him to sacrifice his integrity and lie. Telling the truth is (XXXXX)’s best way of maintaining loyalty to himself, the Army, and the nation, even if it costs him his career. And as Colonel Charles Dunlap, Air Education and Training Command’s Judge Advocate General, points out,

“military people are expendable in a just cause. Disclosing information to legislators under the right circumstances, [as in the scenario], is simply part of the democratic process the U.S. military exists to defend.”

Sometimes an officer is called upon to sacrifice his comfort or career rather than his life. In our estimation, it’s an extremely rare instance in which an officer can sacrifice personal integrity and still make the right choice.
