why does ‘dumping” anything into the sea by the ton raise the idea of “unintended consequences”?

We used to throw virgins into volcanoes to appease the gods. Boy, were we stupid!! Now we've latched on to the real secret -- dump iron in the ocean to appease the gods. That's the ticket!

This is actually good science.
The problem is it would take about two million B-52 flights to match one medium sized volcanic eruption.

Interesting. When the Mississippi River dumps a gazillion tons of red dirt containing iron oxide into the Carribean, they call it pollution and oddly enough it creates a dead zone.

Besides wasting money, these idiots are libel to create some serious unintended consequence.

Conserve our scarce resources... Or dump them in the ocean? How much co2 was released in the discovery, mining, refinement, and transport of the iron? Will the plankton really live on in the area once they have consumed the iron? If so, why isn’t it there now? Sounds like a collossal waste to me.

I think this is old wacko science proposed for a long time now. It says planning, is that doing? Times have changed and one wonders if such tripe is still being realistically funded.

... what happened to that great idea of:
shooting particles up into the sky to block the sun?????????
Won’t other countries love it when we do that????
(I kid you not - they really talked about doing this)
To: palmer
These idiots invent their own science, pretending to “fix” a non-problem with a non-solution, likely to have more dire consequences than any amount of CO2.
Iron in the sea????
Study that for a moment and see what you’ve wrought!
(yes, that was on purpose.....)
