Whitman, in Spanish, touts opposition to Arizona law (with video)

Meg Whitman, pivoting away from a primary that drove her much father to the right than she would have liked, will remind Hispanic Californians that she opposed Arizona's controversial immigration law in an ad slated to run on the Spanish-language broadcast of today's Mexico-France World Cup game.

"She respects our community," says the ad's narrator, according to a Spanish text provided to La Opinion's Pilar Marrero. "She's the Republican who opposed the Arizona law and opposed Proposition 187," say the ad, referring to the 1994 initiative -- later ruled unconstitutional -- to bar illegal immigrants from receiving public health care and education.

The ad marks a dramatic tack a way from a primary in which Whitman was at times visibly uncomfortable with her campaign's hard line, denying at one point -- mistakenly -- that her campaign was airing ads with images of a boarder fence.

Whitman is trying to undo damage done to the Republican Party among Hispanics that began in earnest with the fierce opposition to a broad immigration overhaul -- and the naturalization of many illegal immigrants -- that began in the middle of the last decade.

We had a conservative candidate. Larry Naritelli. I voted for him.

The Ca. GOP is co-opted and owned by liberals. California is a one party rule state.

Meg Whitman is a rank democrat mole. There is no future in California.

Yes. I think that Whitman RINO would be better than DemocRAT socialist-communist Jerry Brown. It would be the last straw to break this state’s back.

Frankly, if he or she are bound to F us, absolutely.

Schwarzenegger has already single-handedly destroyed our party in the state.

If Brown is in there, at least the Democrats will get the credit for his major screw-ups.

Whitman is a liar. She lied to us. She’s not going to do what she promised to do. This topic alone should tell you what a lying bitch she is.

She’ll stab you in the back at a moment’s notice and tell you she was just patting you on the back for doing good work.

She said she would not back the illegal immigrant. Now the person who said she would back English immersion, is talking to Mexican nationals in Spanish.

Here from her own booklet Page 37

As Governor I will...

Secure the border
Establish an Ecnomonic Fence Against Illegal Immigration
Eliminate Sanctuary Cities
Conduct Workplace Inspections of Suspected Businesses
Deploy the Resources of the National Guard
Ban the Admission of Undocumented Students to UC, CSU, and California Community Colleges
Prohibit Driver’s License for Undocumented Immigrants
Enforce English Emersion
Sue the Federal Government to Recoup Prison Costs

Whitman states: I am 100% opposed to any form of amnesty. As governor, I will advocate for a comprehensive federal immigration solution that secures the border.

McCain said the same thing in 2007. He even claimed his bill didn’t facilitate amnesty, even though illegals here would have been given a pathway to citizenship.

Whitman is cut out of the same mold as McCain. She’s another lying conniving leftist. So is Fiorina.

The three of them are triplets.

Absolutely right!

Hispanics aren’t children. They’re adults who share many of the same problems we have, and illegal immigration is one of them.

Do Hispanics get replaced at work by illegals? Of course they do.

Yeah. He's better on gun rights than she is and he is an experienced and seasoned politician whereas she is another incompetent like arnold.

“Grey Davis or Bustamante”

Now you know you are stretching the truth in a BIG way. Ahnold has been terrible but I don’t remember rolling blackouts or buying massive amounts of power on the open market as part of a scam like Blackout Davis. Bustamante was a card carrying Mecha racist. Ahnold is FAR better than either of those clowns.

A California liberal (Whitman) is still better than a California Socialist / Communist (Brown). A true conservative WILL NOT win in California. There are just not enough people in the conservative inland counties.

We left CA in 2003 (Riverside, CA) so we didn’t get to vote in the recall.

The main problem I have with the Jerry Brown side of things is that it is the same logic that gave is Obama.

It can be argued that the same logic that urges us to vote for increasingly liberal Republicans against our better judgment is the logic that gave us Obama.

Our participation in voting for liberal Republicans again and again, rewarding them with victory, has pushed the "center" so far left that a guy as socialist as Obama not only became possible, he became inevitable.

Liberal Republicans will only cease to dominate the Republican party when Republicans vote such that Liberal Republicans lose. Out of fear, out of lack of courage, we have rewarded Liberal Republicans time and time again with victory in the polls. NO WONDER the Republican party has become so liberal -- we are paying the piper for voting out of panic and fear rather than confidence and courage.

We Republicans who enabled the Republican party to become so liberal are as responsible for Obama as the Democrats.

Would Whitman make any difference.

In a lot of things, probably not.

But, in some other things, a lot.

The governors elected this year will preside over re-apportionment.

She'll be better than Arnold at the budgeting and spending game. Not that she'll be great, but Arnold was horrid. And a Democrat will catastrophic.

And so forth.

My having a different opinion is not “stretching the truth,” but your saying it is, is.

San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, to say nothing of San Diego County, voted for Obama, sad to say.

We Republicans who enabled the Republican party to become so liberal are as responsible for Obama as the Democrats.

Say it over and over and over, as we have. The Republican Party establishment IS the problem hence the Tea Party.

We're not the first here to declare the Republicrats as a leftist oligarchy (government assumption of individual initiative and responsibility) centralizing control in the US, but it needs to be said over and over.

If an articulate conservative was given comprehensive public voice in the US, federal politicians would be running for cover like roaches in a headlight.

That's why "they" want to censor the internet.

But we really really do not see an affirmative articulation of conservative principle anywhere on the public scene. Even Rush and Glenn Beck project as too reactionary.

Human dignity is the great privilege of living one's own decisions, success or failure, rich or poor.

There are just not enough people in the conservative inland counties.

I'm sure that some of them fled to Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, etc., along with libs who couldn't stand the results of what they advocated.
