Obama's speech...
L A Times ^ | 6/15/10 | Andrew Malcolm

For all his reputation as the nation's Top Talker, Barack Obama took his sweet time giving a maiden Oval Office address to the country. And waiting another nearly 60 days to speak nationally about the oil spill that’s become the worst environmental disaster in the nation’s history.

Obama, the first modern president to pass his first full year in office without addressing the country from his historic desk, had the setting right. Just back from a day-and-a-half on the gulf coast listening, reassuring, talking tourism, eating seafood. He wore the proper suit, had the requisite flags and family photos in the background.

The reason he never addressed the Nation from the Oval office before yesterday is because he couldn’t find it.

LA Times should donate all future issues to help soak up the oil. For once, do the right thing.

Wow. This guy really sticks it to the One from every direction.

I love that photo of Charlie Crist checking the beach for oil!

And I don’t know where to start on quoting a nugget from this. It’s full of nuggets. How about this?

Following the advice of his chief of staff, Rahm “I Got a Rent-Free Apartment from a BP Adviser” Emanuel, Obama is determined to leave no crisis unused. When he got into the decades-long fossil fuel addiction rehab stuff, his eyes shone. His delivery punched up.

Absolutely spot-on article. And from the LATimes. Empty rhetoric, empty suit, and the whole world is watching.

If you listen to him off TOTUS, he is disjointed in his speech giving. He is a good reader, not a good speech giver. Who ever writes the crap isn’t much better.

Remember when Obama was giving weekly speeches on health care and the poll numbers would drop seamingly after every speech?

The LA Times can forget about that newspaper bailout. LOL

This piece is fantastic! And deserves to be read in its entirety

The photo at your link deserves it's own "caption this photo" post... not sure what the LA Times' picture has to do with the article though.

Gov. Charlie Crist checks a Florida beach for signs of oil.

The most dangerous thing about his address last night: The entire world...including every last enemy of America...is now 100% certain that there is an incompetent, empty-suit, equivocating zero in the American Presidency. Someone who couldn't handle the olive oil spilling in the kitchen, let alone a broken well a mile down in the Gulf. Nor could he handle a squirt gun attack on his kids, let alone a devastating attack on America.

And since everyone, everywhere now knows this for certain, we have much more in the way of disaster -- "man-made disaster" -- to look forward to in the near term as our enemies push the ball down the field.

This is a devastating, bookmark-worthy, analysis.

Indeed, it is.

Obama lost half the left by his failure to provide "bold, decisive action". By which they mean he didn't seize BP and shut down the entire oil industry.

And he lost the other half of the left -- the half including the LA Times and this author -- because he has amply demonstrated that, at bottom, he's incompetent.

Talk about EPIC FAIL...

What killed me was the “martial language” he used, “assault, war, fight”, he hasn’t used ANY such language when discussing the war in Afghanistan! When discussing ACTUAL war, he uses words like “strategy, surge”.

What a freakin’ sissy-assed lib’!

He talks like that because he doesn’t know what else to do. He’s just a Chicago thug that couldn’t run a country on a bet without dictating. This guy needs to be removed from office before he completely ruins this country. It will be hard enough to pull it back together when he’s gone but the American people can do it if given half the chance. States need to bring back States Rights and reverse everything that violates the countries Constitution.
