Two teen murderers from New Hampshire were NOT expelled from their high school despite murdering a woman last year. The school system in the state is looking into whether or not they are permitted to expel students for something like this.
Have to ask why a school would even be debating this. I thought New Hampshire was a "live free or die" state. Is this what the education system has come to?

I think I’ve found the best reason to homeschool in the ping’s history, You agree?
School rules today should include “convicted felons ineligible for class attendance”, especially in inner-city schools. So many teen gang members, convicted felons, drug-dealers, etc. are there these days that allowing them into classrooms invites illegal activity, or even murder.
I would guess they have not been convicted yet? If not why would they not be in jail?
Did they use any racists or sexist speech while committing the murder, or possess a pocketknife or an aspirin? There’s zero tolerance for that.
Technically, if they didn’t commit the crime on the school campus, it isn’t the school’s place to do that. I’ve seen kids who committed lesser offenses back in school the following day after their arrest (mom or dad posts bail, court date set sometime in the future, etc.). In this case, it sounds like the “students” should be in jail awaiting trial anyway, which should make an expulsion a moot point.
They haven’t yet but from what I’ve read two have plead guilty. The two students who weren’t expelled both plead not guilty and are awaiting trial.
How odd? Earlier we had schools punishing student for things they did at home like:
1. fights with other students
2. facebook postings
Now we have a school unable to remove students who have committed off campus murders?
Hmm.
It’s like being stuck between a rock and a hard place. On one hand the school should expel kids for murder however we don’t want school officials behaving like the nanny state and expelling kids for everything and anything off school grounds like they get involved in kid’s lives.
Schools are responsible for the safety and welfare of their students - they should have the right to expel when necessary ...
What next ??? Allowing teachers who have sex with students [off school property] to keep their jobs ???

When in Massachusetts they hang you for smoking in a public place but probably let as many convicted felons in their school system as possible.
New Hampshire isn’t perfect but it certainly beats an all-out nanny state like Massachusetts. A friend of mine lived in both and can’t begin to explain what a difference there is just by crossing a border.
It really should be a moot point. Why are they even out of prison, and in a position to attend school? They belong in a prison-based GED program.
I agree completely. Yet these are the same kind of school administrators that expel students for leaving plastic butter knives visible in their cars.
We really can’t expect them to apply common sense to any situation, either in the best interest of student liberty, rights, or in this case safety. Big catch 22.
I thought that the student body I dealt with was bad.
Even CA expells these students.
Their in prison of course but the point is they were NEVER formally expelled from school.
