US turned down Britain’s offer to help clean up BP oil rig spill
U.K. Times Online ^ | June 14, 2010 | Robin Pagnamenta, Energy Editor

A high-level British offer of help to clean up the Gulf of Mexico oil spill was rebuffed by America shortly after the accident, fuelling fresh fears of political tension between the two countries over the disaster. A few days after the BP-leased rig sank on April 22, the Cabinet Office made a direct offer to the US State Department to airlift half of Britain’s 1,200-tonne stockpile of chemical dispersants, The Times has learnt.

Didn’t they turn down Norway too?

Seventeen nations have offered assistance, all 17 have been turned down.

WHY?!?

Makes no difference, BP will turn the cost over to it's insurance which is probably AIG and the tax payers will wind up paying the whole thing anyway.

NObama’s grad daddy was a Mu Mau. He gave fits to the Brits when Kenya was still a colony of Britain.

Nobama’s daddy carried that hate forward & indoctrinated lots of it into Stanley Ann & Barry.

Barry has shown over & over again how much he hates Britain.

He RETURNED a bust of Winston Churchill, which was a gift to the USA, and was in Bush’s office. The proper thing would have been to put it into storage for a future President. Instead—he RETURNED it, poorly packaged.

He recieved Gordon Brown early in his presidency on an official visit from Britain. He recieved a pen set carved from one of the timbers of an old slave ship.
NObama gave Brown gifts he purchased from the White House gift shop—with the price stickers still on them- along with a copy of one of his books. Not properly wrapped nor properly presented....he handed over a SHOPPING BAG from the gift shop. The CD’s he gave Brown won’t even work in the Europe system of electronics. DISGRACEFUL.

NObama ‘observed’ D-Day in 2009 in France with Sarkozy, but without Queen Elizabeth present. Again- DISGRACEFUL. Queen Elizabeth is the ONLY country leader alive today who is a legitimate veteran of World War II. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary, & drove trucks & supplies between bases.

His animosity against Britatin is glaring.

NOT surprised that he pushed away help from the Brits on the oil spill.

US names 13 countries, plus UN which have offered oil aid

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The United States said Thursday it had received offers of aid to clean up the Gulf of Mexico oil spill from Canada and Mexico, 10 European countries, South Korea and the United Nations.

The US State Department said there was no immediate need for the assistance offered but that the US Coast Guard was trying to evaluate whether there would be in the future.

"These offers include experts in various aspects of oil spill impacts, research and technical expertise, booms, chemical oil dispersants, oil pumps, skimmers, and wildlife treatment," the State Department said in a statement.

Holland offered oil skimming boats and made a proposal to build barriers to protect marshes THREE days after it happened. The Dutch consulate in Houston got a Thanks but no thanks letter.

I find it outrageous.

My theory is that the liability would become blurry if others came and helped. Zero is (was) a lawyer and legal stuff is all he can relate to.

I could be wrong of course.

and yet, the damage is ALL BP’s fault and ALL BP’s financial responsibility- right

There's another big problem with viewing it this way. What if the damages are so large that BP doesn't have the assets to cover them? Then the government will inevitably get pressured into covering them, all with fiat currency or more borrowed money. For that reason alone, it behooved and behooves the government to do all it can to prevent the oil from reaching the shore and devastating the economy, the environment, and wildlife of the Gulf States.

Obama's refused to do that.

Instead, he's allowed, and probably encouraged, every kind of bureaucratic and legal foot dragging that he appears to think he can get away with. I think he's decided to allow as much damage as possible to occur, including the damage he's affirmatively and deliberately inflicted by shutting down the Gulf oil industry, so he can use the crisis to promote decapitate and tax. He's a purely evil, cold blooded communist monster that hates Ameica and Americans that will do whatever damage he thinks will advance his cause of turning us into a communist hell hole.

This going to quickly become an international incident.

Lets hope this becomes enough of an international incident that some friendly foreign intelligence service (Mosad, British Intelligence, ARE YOU LISTENING) obtains all of his private records, including the real birth certificate, and publishes all of them.

we know he is ideologically unbalanced (perhaps psychotically so) by his demanding that BP pay the salaries of all oil industry and associated industry Gulf workers laid of because of OBAMA's announced 6 month moratorium

No reasonable person would see that as fair, but coming from a US president? Breath. Taking. Really.

I think he and those around him (like Pelousi, the sheltered cunning but stupid wife of multi millionaire Paul Pelosi, who has no idea how her husband's” excess profits” keep the family in style)

they are all are so ignorant (willfully) that they see that statements that BP is “capitalized” at about $160 Billion (assessed value of all assets including WORKING CAPITAL that all they see is “excess profit”

NO business sense whatsoever, and complete contempt and hostility to even getting any.

Don't forget Obama's diplomatic gift to Queen Elizabeth when he went to England...an iPod. Classy, eh? This man is just about the most incompetent diplomat in US history.

I believe Obama wants to milk this crisis for his own gain. It’s not surprising that we’re hearing more about Tax & Cap following this disaster.

I have believed that from the beginning. He allowed it to become so massive that he could push through cap and trade with no problems.

“Didn’t they turn down Norway too?”

And Canada, and Croatia, and France, and Germany, and Ireland, and Mexico, and the Netherlands, and Romania, and the Republic of Korea, and Spain, and Sweden, and even the UN. He told them all to go screw themselves.

The oil industry constitutes about a third of the whole Gulf coast economy. I fail to see how a single business entity, even one as large as BP, can have the assets to cover all of those losses, plus all the other massive, and mostly legitimate, claims that will be filed against it over the coming years. Hence, the administration's responsibility to the people of the Gulf coast and all Americans is obvious: do all that can be done on the grund to prevent to prevent damages that will result in claims, many of which will be unrecoverable due to insufficient assets. Doing otherwise simply increases the demands on a fininte asset pool, thereby hurting the many people who already have massive, legitimate claims.

Instead, this monster is trying to run up unrecoverable damages as hard, high, and fast as he can, all based on the lie that, "BP will cover it all." I can go to a local homeless shelter, give some bum a bottle of Thunderbird, and get him to "guarantee" the debt of the U.S. Government. Collecting on the "guarantee" will be a bit more dicey. It will be just as hard to get BP to pay for all the damages the Illegal is unnecessarily, deliberately, and maliciously running up.

Why would he refuse help? Can’t BP ask for help without nobama’s input?
